There was ten cars parked in the driveway, with Dominic’s Rolls–Royce sitting in the middle–the same one he had arrived in. Alpha Dominic walked toward the car and opened the door, waiting for me. I stood there, looking around, unsure which car I should get into.
Beta Nash’s eyes flicked between Dominic and me, his face drenched in sweat. He glanced at me. briefly before returning his gaze to Alpha Dominic, clearly unsure of what to do.
I looked back at Alpha Dominic, who was still holding the door open, his eyes fixed on me. “How long are you gonna make me wait, Luna Blair?” His tone was impatient, but there was a challenge in it.
I froze for a second. Should I ride in the same car as him? If Julian could announce Violet’s pregnancy in front of everyone, surely it wasn’t the end of the world if I shared a car with Alpha Dominic. Come on, it’s not like we’re having sex.
“Beta Nash, could you help with my luggage?” I said, walking confidently toward the car. Grant gave me a small smile while helping Nash with my bags. Once I got in, Alpha Dominic closed the door and quickly took his seat beside me.
The car was cramped, and I immediately felt uncomfortable being so close to him. I pressed myself into the corner, desperate to keep some space. The driver, an older wolf, smiled at me briefly before starting the engine. Within twenty minutes, our convoy was on the highway.
The first thing Alpha Dominic did was press a button that raised a partition between us and the driver. I felt a jolt of panic. “I already told you, Alpha Dominic–I’m not that kind of woman.”
“Did you sign the contract?” he ignored my comment and turned to me, crossing one leg over his knee.
“No,” I answered, trying to keep my voice steady. “I wanted to add a few things.”
He smirked, “Like what?”
I took a deep breath, preparing myself. “The contract can’t take effect until my divorce from Alpha Julian is final.”
“Sure,” he said with a casual shrug. “But it has to be done within a month.”
“I don’t know how long the Council of Elders will take,” I muttered, unsure of what to expect from them.
“No,” he corrected me, “I don’t think you get it, Blair,” he dropped the ‘Luna‘ title.
“After Julian rejected you as his mate and Luna, you’ll fulfill the contract even if you can’t get your pack
back.”
“Alpha Dominic!” I hissed, stung by his words. “I have to get my pack back. How can I just abandon my people to him and Violet?”
“That’s my decision, Blair,” he snapped, a little more impatient than before.
I just stared at him, not knowing what to do.
I swallowed hard and turned my gaze out the window, trying to steady myself. “When my father died, he was happy I’d married Alpha Julian and became his Luna. After his death, merging our packs was natural. If my father were alive, this situation would destroy him.” I shuddered. I turned back to him. “I

can’t let my pack members suffer. I have a responsibility to them.”

Without warning, Alpha Dominic reached over and took my hand in his, his large, warm hands enveloping mine. An electric current rushed through my entire body. My heart skipped a beat as I parted my lips and let out a sigh.
“I’ll do my best to help you with your pack, Blair,” he said, his voice steady, like he was making a
promise.
We locked eyes for a long moment. “Thank you,” I whispered, barely able to speak.
Suddenly, something heavy slammed into the side of the car, throwing us off balance. The vehicle spun around, and I was thrown onto his lap. He immediately wrapped his strong arms around me, pulling me close, his body solid against mine as he growled low, like a warning. The proximity made my skin flush.
The car screeched to a halt. He pressed a button to lower the screen. “What happened?” he barked at
the driver.
