Julian’s name flashing on my screen surprised me he should have been attending to Violet. When I glanced at Alpha Dominic, he looked ready to smash my phone to pieces,
I picked it up on the last ring. “Julian.”
“Blair!” he barked through the phone. “How could you leave without letting me know? Didn’t Nash tell you there were no cars available?”
I took a deep breath to calm my anger. “Yes, Nash mentioned that, but Alpha Dominic offered his car. And about letting you know–I tried talking to you, but you were busy carrying Violet to the hospital,”
“Well, you should have waited for my orders!” he growled.
This time, anger exploded in my chest. “I am your Luna, Julian. I don’t need to wait for your orders. every time you’re busy. Am I second–class? Stop insulting me because of your mistress, pregnant or not! I called you this morning to talk about it, but you ignored me. So I made my decision and came with Alpha Dominic.”
“Blair, don’t mess with me,” he shouted. “You’re coming back to the pack right now,” he demanded like a spoiled brat, treating me like some possession he owned. I heard a soft cough on the other end- Violet, of course.
“Don’t be so mad at her, Julian,” she said in her timid voice. “After all, it must be hard for her to accept that I’m back and pregnant with your pup. She probably left out of jealousy. But I promise to stay in your shadow even after the pup is born and won’t overshadow my Luna.”
I rolled my eyes.
Julian paused to listen to Violet. “Did you hear Violet? She’s so concerned about your welfare, yet you’re jealous of her. Why can’t you be mature? Learn from Violet. She gives me everything I need, and you–you just chose to run away with Alpha Dominic! Shame on you.”
My throat choked with emotion at his words. Run away? It felt like everything I’d done to improve the Obsidian pack meant nothing. “Julian, I think I’m the one who’s been accommodating, but-”
“Shut up!” he shouted. “I don’t want to hear your excuses anymore. Don’t bother unpacking because I’ll pick you up tomorrow.” With that, he hung up, leaving me at my wit’s end. I turned away from Alpha Dominic and stared at the darkening mountains, matching my mood.
Throughout the journey, Alpha Dominic didn’t mention the phone call. Instead, he kept passing me small food packets, insisting I needed energy for the Blue Bay Project. I chuckled. “Blue Bay Project? We haven’t even discussed it yet.”
His expression softened when I ate the tuna sandwich. Taking a napkin, he wiped the corners of my mouth, and I let him. It felt good to be cared for, for once. “Then tell me about it,” he said. “I know you’ve done great work.”
For the first time in ages, I felt proud of my work. He listened attentively as I explained everything, never taking his eyes off me. Since I had several files downloaded on my phone, I showed him those
too.

We reached the Thunderforge Pack at 8 PM. While his warriors were taking my luggage inside, a tall man with chocolate brown hair and light brown eyes came to greet us. “Alpha!” he bowed to Dominic and glanced at me with interest.
Dominic clasped his forearms in greeting and patted his shoulder warmly. “Blair, meet my Beta, Kade Huxley.”
“Hi,” I said, and he bowed to me too, surprise evident in his eyes.
“This is Luna Blair,” Dominic introduced me.
“I know.” Kade replied.
“Have you found anything about the rogue attack?” Dominic asked him.
“Yes. Can we discuss it?” Kade replied with a British accent that caught me off guard.
“Not now. Let me help Blair get settled, then I’ll meet you at 10 PM.”
“Sure!” Kade looked increasingly surprised.
As we walked inside, Dominic asked about Aria.
“She’ll be back in a week, Alpha. Gone hiking again!”
Dominic rolled his eyes. “Aria and her love for hiking!”
Alpha Dominic’s house was a stunning mansion. Nestled among rolling hills and lush greenery, it stood majestically. The exterior combined classic and contemporary design, with tall columns, detailed stonework, and large windows. The front featured polished brass fixtures. We entered a grand foyer with marble floors. Chandeliers sparkled overhead, filling the space with light. The furnishings were opulent–plush velvet sofas, crafted wooden tables, and fine art.
“This way,” Dominic placed his hand on my lower back as he led me to the guest wing. I noticed everyone watching us as we walked through various corridors and rooms.
We reached a corner room. “This is where you’ll stay,” he said, opening the door. My jaw dropped at the luxurious bedroom. It had elegant bedding, custom furnishings, and a private balcony overlooking the estate grounds.
“The bathroom’s over there,” he said, pointing left. “A maid can help you unpack.”
I shook my head helplessly. “No… I can manage. I won’t unpack since I’m leaving tomorrow.” I hesitated. “Could we meet tomorrow morning if you have time?” I asked hopefully, needing to discuss my case urgently.
