“I’ll be here. Please sign the contract–I’ll pick it up in the morning,” Alpha Dominic said, his intense gaze fixed on me as he gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
His intimate gestures left me confused. Why would someone like him want me? I was Luna in name only, seeking separation from my Alpha, without even a pack to call my own. What was his real reason for this contract? Being his Luna for a year made no sense. Was he just giving in to pressure from his Elders?
After he left, I relaxed in the luxury bathroom. This wolf was seriously loaded! I still couldn’t figure out his interest in the Blue Bay Project.
As I soaked in the hot, fragrant water, my phone rang–Violet. I debated ignoring it, but what if Julian was with her? Not wanting to give him another reason to criticize me, I answered.
“Yes?” I said flatly.
“You’ve gone too far this time, Blair!” Violet snarled. “Running off with Alpha Dominic without telling Alpha Julian? Are you that desperate for attention since your husband won’t sleep with you? You’ve embarrassed the whole pack. Have you no dignity left?”
I’d had it with her. “Well, look who’s talking! Alpha Dominic told me why you went to see him this morning–trying to show off your bedroom skills to him.”
“What lies are you spreading?” she snapped nervously. “Unlike you, I’m faithful to Julian. Is that all, or do you want to insult me more?”
“Oh no, there’s more. You talk about embarrassing the pack? What about what you did to Greyfang pack? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.”
She gasped. “Blair, you’re awful. I came back because Alpha Blake abused me,” her voice trembled. “Why do you keep accusing me?” She started crying – right on cue as Julian probably walked in. “I only care about Alpha Julian’s reputation. You shouldn’t have left without permission. People are talking about you.”
I rolled my eyes. “Well, it’s about time they gossip about me for a change. They must be tired of talking about you by now!”
She wailed loudly. “Violet!” Julian cooed. “Stop crying. Think happy thoughts – stress isn’t good for the
baby.”
Knowing Julian would grab the phone next to yell at me, I hung up and blocked her number. Her toxic behavior was getting to me. But something didn’t add up. If Julian rejected me, she’d benefit most. So why keep pushing me to stay as the obedient Luna? Something felt off. Should I mention this to Alpha Dominic?
Back in my room after the luxurious bath, I was surprised to find a pink silk lingerie set laid out on my bed. It definitely wasn’t mine. Who left it? I walked over and found a note:
[A small gift for tonight. Thought you’d be too tired to unpack. – Dominic]
I smiled and tried it on. It fit perfectly and felt amazing against my skin. A maid brought dinner to my room, which was a relief – I didn’t have to go to the main dining room. By 10 PM, I was in bed

surrounded by my scattered files. I reviewed them to see if I could strengthen my case, then studied werewolf separation laws–something I couldn’t do back at my pack without raising suspicion. After making lots of notes, I finally fell asleep around 2 AM among my files. That night, I dreamed of wolves with emerald eyes chasing me.
When I woke up, I found all my files and folders neatly stacked on the desk by the window, and I was tucked into warm blankets. Had a maid done this? I stretched and yawned. I’d slept better than I had in ages–like a rock until 11 AM according to the clock. With a yelp, I rushed to the bathroom, my mood dropping as I thought about Julian’s arrival.
I was pinning up my hair when there was a soft knock. Opening the door, I found Alpha Dominic st anding there with a food tray.
“Blair, how are you?” he asked with a warm smile. “Want to have breakfast together? And have you signed the contract?”
“I’m good,” I replied, stepping aside as excitement and nerves washed over me.
He walked to the fireplace couch and set down the tray. His eyes landed on my lingerie. Blushing hard, I quickly grabbed it. I tied my hair in a messy bun and joined him on the couch. “Thanks,” I mumbled, feeling overwhelmed by his presence.
He chuckled. “You’re welcome.” He handed me a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a hard roll and said, “You wanted to meet with me.”
My anxiety grew as I realized I needed to handle everything before Julian showed up.
