I was stunned–this was happening much faster than I’d expected. “This is amazing news, Aria,” I said, realizing just how much I wanted to see him. “But if he’s here to meet Julian, what’s the agenda?” Clearly, he wasn’t coming just for me.
“I don’t know, girl,” Aria replied. “He just said he’s meeting Alpha Julian first, and then he’ll see you
there.”
I had to hold back a squeal, hope blooming in my chest. “Thank you so much, Aria,” I said with a smile.
“You have no idea how much this means to me.”
“Don’t be silly!” Aria teased. “I would’ve come too, but I have to attend this stupid matchmaking event.”
I laughed. “Aria, I really miss you.”
“Me too!” she said just as enthusiastically. “See you soon!”
Alpha Dominic was coming. I had to get everything ready.
I spent the whole day organizing my thoughts and preparing what I would say. No matter how much I practiced, though, one worry kept gnawing at me–would I even get to speak to him alone?
I expected Julian to at least mention Alpha Dominic’s visit, but he didn’t. The next morning, he finally showed up in my room after training. “Blair,” he said curtly.
I turned around, looking at him expectantly. As the Luna, I should be by his side for any official event especially one involving an Alpha of Dominic’s status.
“Yes, Julian,” I asked, fastening my earrings. He was only wearing training shorts, his muscles taut and glistening with sweat. If this had been a different time, I would have been making love with him. But now? The mate bond that once made me crave him was nothing more than a deep, aching wound.
He took a deep breath, “Tomorrow, Alpha Dominic is coming. I want Violet to attend all the events with
me, not you.”
I froze. “What do you mean?” I asked sharply, “I’m your Luna, she’s your mistress!”
He shifted uncomfortably. “Violet is carrying my pup. I want her to have a more prominent role in the pack right now.” His voice was matter–of–fact, as if this was a normal conversation. “Besides, it’s going to be a ball. Who would you even go with? I’ll be with Violet, so it would be awkward for you.” With that, he shook his head and walked out of the room.
Anger flared inside me, and I clenched my fists. I wasn’t going to lose this opportunity. I needed someone to take me to the ball.
Suppressing my anger, I called Gamma Grant.
“Luna Blair?”
“Grant, do you know about tomorrow’s dinner?” I asked, hating how pathetic I sounded. As Luna, I should be the one hosting the dinner. But there was no use pretending things weren’t crumbling around me.
There was a pause of hesitation before he answered. “Yes.”

“Good, I want you to be my date to the ball.” I didn’t wait for his reaction. I simply hung up.

The next morning, I stared out the car window, my breath catching as a convoy of ten sleek black luxury cars pulled into the driveway. Dozens of warriors in black uniforms moved in perfect unison, forming a tight perimeter around the central Rolls–Royce. When the door opened, my heart stopped.
Alpha Dominic stepped out.
He wasn’t just handsome–he was commanding, his presence shifting the very energy of the estate. Jet–black hair, sharp chiseled features, and a frame that exuded raw power. He removed his sunglasses, his light brown eyes locking onto mine with effortless precision.
I inhaled sharply, my pulse quickening.
“Alpha Dominic!” Julian’s voice cut through the moment, and I quickly ducked behind the curtain, feeling my heart race.
“Alpha Julian,” Dominic greeted him, his deep baritone smooth yet firm.
“Meet Violet,” Julian said, and I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me.
“Where is your Luna?” Alpha Dominic demanded.
I imagined Julian’s hesitation. “She–she’s not feeling well,” he lied.
“So, you bring your mistress to welcome me?” Dominic’s growl sent a shiver down my spine. “Are you trying to insult me?”
Julian tensed. He knew that some Alphas, especially powerful ones, still followed the strict hierarchy of werewolf tradition. And under those rules, a Luna was a Luna. “Alpha Dominic, I-”
“I don’t have time for this!” Dominic interrupted. “I want to meet the mastermind behind the Blue Bay Project and leave as soon as possible.”
I stiffened. He was talking about me.
A chill ran down my spine. Had I done something wrong?
The Blue Bay Project was my most successful business plan, developing multiple resorts and entertainment parks in remote states, greatly expanding our pack’s business territory.
From the window, I watched as Julian scrambled to recover from Dominic’s clear disapproval. And then my gaze flickered to Violet, who was standing awkwardly among the warriors.
