Alpha Dominic’s words hit me like a bolt of lightning. What? Be his Luna? Did I hear that right? I stood there, dumbfounded, as he casually picked up a document from the desk.
He handed it to me with a cool, controlled expression. “Read and sign these before tomorrow
morning.”
My head was spinning. He’d come prepared–he already had the contract ready? “Tomorrow morning?” I repeated.
“Yes, because I’m leaving tomorrow morning. With you.” His voice was firm, like this was already a done deal,
I forgot to take the contract. I just stared at him, stunned. “My husband won’t let me go.”
He didn’t budge. His voice was calm, almost cold, “Then you don’t know me at all.”
My mouth opened and closed, not knowing what to say, because I was sure Julian wouldn’t let me walk away so easily. In fact, he must be anxious next to Violet right now. What husband would want his wife alone with another Alpha?
“Let’s return to the party, Luna Blair,” Alpha Dominic said, extending his arm to hold me. I hesitated, but he raised an eyebrow, his gaze unyielding. “I know my manners, Luna Blair. A gentleman escorts his lady to a ball like this.”
“I’m sorry your husband lost his manners in his mistress’s vagina.”
Goddess! His crude words hit me like a splash of cold water, and I felt my cheeks flush. I immediately took his arm, and we walked back to the party. Obviously, everyone was watching me. I thanked him and left his side to mingle with others. As Luna, I had a responsibility to take care of everyone. I glanced at Julian and Violet, who were glaring at me, but I avoided them both.
Seeing me standing alone, several unmarried Alphas and Betas approached me. Usually, they would keep their distance, but tonight, things felt different. I could feel a surge of confidence rise within me, and I held my head a little higher.
“Luna Blair,” said the youngest among them. “You look amazing.”
“Thank you,” I replied with a polite smile.
He smiled back; his eyes bright with interest. “Have you considered coming to my pack? We’re having a bonfire party next week.”
I raised an eyebrow, a small chuckle escaping my lips. I knew exactly what bonfire parties were. They were informal gatherings where pack members danced, drank, and socialized under the forest moonlight. It was a popular event for young wolves, and his invitation was more than just an offer for fun. He was interested, and I could tell.
“I’m not sure,” I said, my gaze flicking over to Alpha Dominic. He looked… grim. Why did he look so upset? “But I’ll let you know in advance if I come.”
“Great!” the young Alpha said excitedly. “Then tonight, may I have the honor of a dance with you?”
Before I could even consider my answer, a voice as cold as ice sliced through the air, halting

“She’ll dance with me.” I was startled–wasn’t Violet already glued to his hip? Now he wanted to dance with me? I wanted to refuse, but I wanted to make Violet mad even more. So, I accepted his command.
“Thank you, Julian. I knew you’d ask,” I said with a subtle challenge in my voice, glancing briefly at Violet. Her expression was a mix of confusion and fury as she stood at the edge of the dance floor,
watching us..
Julian took my hand and pulled me into his arms, guiding me onto the floor. He grabbed my hand and drew me close to his body as the orchestra began to play. His every step reflected his aggression, but I matched his moves. I glanced at Violet for a second time, her face twisted with hatred in her eyes. Julian pressed me against him. Damn mate attraction kicked in, and my body responded to his touch. I took a soft breath to calm myself down. “Blair, you look beautiful tonight,” Julian whispered, his breath warm against my ear as the music slowed.
“Thank you, Julian,” I said with a polite smile, even though my heart wasn’t in it.
His hand tightened around mine, and he studied me intently. “What did Alpha Dominic discuss with
you?”
So, this was what he cared about. “Nothing,” I lied smoothly, shrugging. “The Blue Bay Project,” Alpha
Dominic didn’t mention it at all.
“I see…” The song came to an end. He released me and immediately walked off to find Violet, leaving me standing alone. I watched as he wiped away her tears and kissed her cheek in what seemed like an attempt to comfort her.
I felt my stomach turn. The sight of it made me lose my appetite, and after a few minutes, I decided to leave the ballroom. As I stepped out, I felt that strange, familiar sensation again–like someone’s eyes were on me. I turned and met Alpha Dominic’s gaze from across the room. He stood motionless, eyes locked on me, his expression unreadable. It was like he could see straight through me.
