Chapter 07
Reckless words feel good in the moment. As soon as I left the school gate, I
regretted it.
I slapped my own head, unable to restrain my remorse. Damn it, why couldn’t I just endure it? If worse came to worst, I could’ve found a chance to beat them up! Why did I have to insist on outscoring them academically?!
Now there are still a few months until finals. How could I possibly surpass Natalie.
Wilkinson? Isn’t this just an impossible fantasy?
Pig brain, pig brain, pig brain! I cursed myself silently.
When I got home, I was still agonizing over what to do.
If I really went to the school gate and shouted three times that I’m worthless crap,
I’d rather smash my head and die!
Just as I was feeling miserable, my mom suddenly came to knock on the door. “Emily, come out for a bit! Your big brother Daniel is here!”
I said impatiently: “What Daniel–”
“Daniel Collins?!”
I shot up, startling my mom.
“Don’t be rude to your big brother Daniel! Go out and talk to him.”
Great!
This is just what I needed, a pillow for my sleepy head!
I rushed out and pushed open the door.
“Big brother Daniel! You’re here!”
Daniel Collins was sitting on my family’s sofa.
The evening sun shone through the window onto his tall, slender figure, gilding.
him entirely in a blurry golden edge, so handsome it seemed unreal.
Hearing the sound, he turned his face. His beautiful eyes lifted slightly with some
amusement.
“The sun is rising from the west today. How come you’re not calling me that bookworm?”
My face flushed red!

Daniel Collins was the son of my mom’s best friend and had been a legendary. figure in our area since he was young.
He started skipping grades in elementary school and self–studied high school courses in middle school. Though he was only a few years older than me, he was already starting a master’s–doctoral continuous program at Harvard University. Back then, he had already secured guaranteed admission but insisted on taking the college entrance exam, ultimately going to Harvard University with a score that could be described as terrifying.
This kind of person wasn’t human. What sat on his neck wasn’t a head but a
computer. Hearing about him was simply frightening.
When I was still a delinquent, I disliked him the most. This kind of person with
good looks, good grades, and good family background was as dazzling as the sun. in the sky, making me seem even more like rotten mud in comparison.
But it’s different now!
needed him right now. With Daniel Collins around, what were Natalie Wilkinson and Jason Brooks? He could crush them between his fingers!
“Your big brother Daniel is going to stay at home for a while. You two haven’t seen
each other in a long time. Emily, come chat with your big brother Daniel. I’ll go
wash some fruit!”
I squeezed out an ingratiating smile.
“Big brother Daniel, you’re back?”
Daniel Collins looked at me warily as if seeing something dirty, leaning back.
slightly.
“Emily Anderson, what’s wrong with you?”
My smile froze. I sidled over and said in a wheedling voice:
“Big brother Daniel, I remember you got a 740 on the college entrance exam,
right?”
“To be precise, 739.” Daniel Collins said indifferently. “Emily Anderson, whatever you’re scheming, I advise you to stop.”

Damn, no wonder he hasn’t found a girlfriend yet. This Daniel Collins is as stinky.
and hard as a rock in a cesspit!
I suppressed my anger and said: “Big brother Daniel, we’re practically childhood. sweethearts. Can you bear to see me not get into college in the future?”
“I can bear it.”
I paused, then simply pretended I didn’t hear and directly stated my request: “Big brother Daniel, can you tutor me?”
“Tutor you?!”
Daniel Collins finally showed an expression. He looked at me with suspicion and
said:
“Emily Anderson, you haven’t been possessed by something unclean, have you?”
Unable to endure any longer, I finally dropped the act.
“Daniel Collins, just say if you’ll tutor me or not! Is it so wrong for me to turn over a
new leaf?!”
“If you don’t tutor me, I’ll go complain to your mom!”
Daniel Collins‘ mom never had a daughter and especially loved little girls,
particularly me.
If his mom knew he refused to help me study, she’d scold him to death.
Sure enough, Daniel Collins‘ expression stiffened. After a long while, he said through gritted teeth:
“Emily Anderson, you really know how to court death. What kind of mischief are
you up to now?”
I grabbed his arm and said earnestly:
“Bro, I want to get into Harvard University! Please help me get into Harvard. University!”
“My boyfriend dumped me for a top student. I made a bet with them that I will definitely surpass them in the final exams!”
I thought Daniel Collins would mock me like everyone else, but to my surprise, he
just looked startled for a moment before irritably ruffling his hair.

“Emily Anderson, did you lose all your brain cells from dating?!”
“What’s in it for me?”
“Aren’t you starting a business!” I said excitedly. “I’ll give you all my New Year’s.
money!”
Daniel Collins sneered: “If I relied on your bit of New Year’s money I wouldn’t need
to work. You better study properly, understand?”
He said fiercely: “If you don’t study hard, I’ll beat you!”
I pondered briefly and understood why Daniel Collins didn’t think I was indulging
in fantasy.
For a human computer like him, getting into Harvard University probably wasn’t difficult at all.
I had stumbled upon a treasure!
I widened my eyes and looked at him seriously: “Okay, if I don’t, you can beat me!”
