Chapter 5
In the early morning, Ryan came home with a bag of bok choy.
It was just his clothes, not the one he wore before going out last night.
It seemed that he didn’t expect to find me sitting in the living room, and there was a slight change in his expression.
From panic, nervousness, to worry.
There was also a faint and least noticeable guilt.
“Bella, how did the burn on your hand turn out?”
Is this the new clothes?”
I pointed at the hoodie on him, but he didn’t answer and instead asked a question.
Since the day we started dating, I personally purchased all of our clothes, as per his request, and every single one of them was a couple’s style.
He always said that he didn’t feel secure and was afraid that if he wasn’t careful, I would leave him..
The previous clothes got stained with ointment, so I asked the secretary to buy a random one and deliver it to the company.
I clenched my phone, pretending to be confused.
“Secretary?”
The entire room suddenly became silent.
“Ryan, did you hire a secretary? Why didn’t you let me meet them?”
Ryan slowly approached, half kneeling by my feet, carefully cradling my injured hand and earnest examining the burn.
“Bella.”
“You used to accompany me before, but later you got pregnant, and the company indeed needed an assistant, so I had the HR department hire a new person.”
Her name was Lilly, she was a recent graduate. Interestingly enough, she bore a slight resemblance to you when you were young.
“Bella, over the years, you know best where my heart has been, don’t you?
By the way, Bella, were the fireworks beautiful last night? I personally designed them. There were !
many times when I couldn’t help but tell you, but when I thought about it being a surprise for our

seventh anniversary, I held back.”
He lifted his head, his gaze full of sincerity.
I pursed my lips, covered my stomach, and suppressed the nausea that was about to surge up again.
He, however, thought that I had a stomachache and poured me a glass of warm water.
Then he picked up the bok choy and walked quickly into the kitchen with three steps and two steps.
“Bella, breakfast will be ready soon. Have some hot water to warm your stomach first.”
I didn’t reply, Ryan only thought I was very upset.
Not long after, he pushed a plate of hot spaghetti in front of me and pursed his lips tightly.
“Bella, after all these years, your stomach still hasn’t recovered, it’s all my fault back then…”
When he mentioned it again, I was taken aback.
In the fifth year of marriage, the company touched the interests of other companies.
At the dinner party, a table full of people deliberately made things difficult for Ryan, coincidentally, he had a fever and couldn’t drink alcohol after taking DayQuil
That was the first time I saw a look of despair on his face.
He laughed so ugly that it was worse than crying, “Bella, I really wanted to give up.”
“I couldn’t hold on anymore, I felt so tired.”
I understood the importance of the company to him more than anyone else, so I asked him to leave. and apologized to everyone at the table, then opened a bottle of high–proof white wine.
Before this, I did not drink alcohol.
My stomach problem started after that
When Ryan found me in the restroom cubicle, I was holding my stomach in distress, banging n head against the wall due to a persistent headache.
He burst into tears in an instant, almost crawling to my side.
You were
“Bella, I didn’t want the company anymore, I just wanted you to be with me, as long as you were
safe.”
“So Bella, my biggest wish in this lifetime was to take care of you and Jane.”
“Bella?”

Lost in thought, I paused for a moment.
“What was Bella thinking? Doesn’t she trust me?”
A joke that we could all hear.
Unfortunately, I nodded.
Ryan’s expression immediately stiffened.
Two seconds later, he sighed and pulled me into his arms,
“I swear, Bella, you were my only one.” he said with a tone that seemed helpless and indulgent.
I saw him raise one hand above his head and swear.
The serious and false face, like a pile of rotten meat exploded.
Those words turned into putrid blood splattering on my face, cascading down my cheeks.
I wiped my face, and tears unconsciously welled up in my eyes.
“Bella!”
Ryan instantly panicked, frantically wiping the tears from the corners of my eyes.
Several times, the tissue slipped from his trembling fingertips.
“What’s wrong, are you moved?”
“How old is Bella? Why does she still act like a child? You are my wife, and I treat you well. It’s all that I should do.”
The unfamiliar ringtone sounded.
He glanced at me subconsciously, lowered the brightness, and then turned it on.
“Um… okay, you go ahead and do it.”
“I went there at noon.”
We have known each other for thirteen years and been in love for ten years.
Maybe he didn’t even know how well I knew him.
When he was happy, one of his feet would always slightly raise up.
Just like this moment.
He hung up the phone and pondered before speaking.
“Bella, I had a social engagement at noon–”
