Chapter 11
“Who do you think I was cursing, Ryan?”
I had no expression on my face, and I said in a dull voice, “My mother passed away.”
“I was planning to handle the procedures this afternoon, but Jane had another incident.
Ryan’s eyes flashed with a touch of pain, and he took two steps forward, his five fingers trembling slightly as he clenched my wrist.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Bella, why didn’t you say anything when such a big thing happened…”
‘I called you before.”
“There were a total of thirteen calls, and you didn’t answer any of them.”
“I could have seen my mom for the last time… It was because you were afraid that I would suddenly come home if we met in the city, or that you couldn’t find an excuse to be away for a long time, so you chose such a remote location where there are no cars around.”
“No, Bella, I didn’t mean that…”
He incoherently defended himself.
The suddenly raised voice was sharp and piercing.
I closed my eyes, and in my mind, there were scenes of him and Lilly being intimate.
Unable to hold it in any longer, I couldn’t help but retch and rushed to the toilet to vomit until I felt clean.
“I left, I’m sorry, I’m sorry Bella, don’t hurt yourself, I’ll leave right away.”
Ryan stared at me blankly, his eyes filled with astonishment and caution.
This time, he did not stop anymore.
And when I passed by him, I didn’t look back either.
It was raining outside.
The air, wet and cold, spread inside, making one alert but unable to help being absent–minded.
Perhaps it was easier to be overwhelmed by the environment when feeling down.
pressed my hand firmly against my chest, bent over, and took deep breaths.
“Bella!”
You scoundrel! Stop right there!”
Astrong force pushed me against the wall.
It was Lilly who should have been in the detention center.
“Bella, is calling the police and arresting me all you were capable of?”
“I didn’t kill your child, so why are you making such a big deal out of it? Besides, I was helping her after all. After all, you wouldn’t want her to grow up in a household where her father doesn’t love her, would you?”
She approached step by step, with a sinister smile.
In the end, she deliberately elongated the sound and spoke very slowly.
“I really regret now, why didn’t I fall harder, so that you could have a chance to pretend to be
miserable in front of him.”
Watching her arrogant and triumphant expression, I couldn’t help but think she was incredibly foolish.
I grabbed her arm with my backhand and kicked her in the bend of her leg.
“Lilly, your college principal was my uncle, and what you received from Ryan is our marital
property.”
“I said these things not to threaten you, but merely to let you prepare for my retaliation.”
“As for love, let me tell you, love is useless, only being in love is useful.”
“How could you ensure that he was sincere to you?”
He immediately stepped on her shoulder and pulled out a belt to tie her up.
“Lilly, you were not only bad, but also stupid.”
“Bella!” she exclaimed, her eyes almost popping out, “Ryan definitely loves me. Today, I just sent him a picture of a pregnancy test strip I found online, without even removing the watermark, and he immediately left you to be with me.”
“Moreover, I was able to be released from the detention center because he, as a family member, went to the police station and signed a letter of understanding!”
