Chapter 5
Jacey approached and gently tugged at his sleeve, offering kind advice.
“Don’t get angry, Sandra was probably just impulsive.”
“She was always gentle and considerate…”
“It was my fault after all, if I hadn’t returned to my home country and bothered you with these matters, she wouldn’t have gotten upset…”
Emmett’s voice turned slightly cold as he said, “What does it have to do with you? It was her own immaturity.”
“She was not sensible, wasn’t it because you spoiled her?”
Jacey forced a smile and said, “I have heard a lot about your loving relationship while I was abroad…”
She hadn’t finished speaking when she suddenly burst into tears.
Emmett sneered, “Why did he marry her in the first place, others may not know, but don’t you know either?”
Jacey looked at him tearfully and asked, “Emmett, was it really because of me?”
Emmett did not answer, but simply pulled back his sleeve lightly.
“I had something to do and I was wondering if you wanted the driver to take you back or if you wanted to stay here overnight?”
Jacey wiped away her tears and said, “I’ll wait for you here.”
“I can’t sleep either if you and Sandra are in such a mess,” Emmett nodded and instructed the servant to tidy up the guest room.
The driver was asked to prepare the car again and then he turned around and left.
Jacey watched him leave.
I glanced again at the shredded divorce agreement in the trash can.
She pursed her lips and slowly sat down on the sofa.
Why did Emmett tear up the divorce agreement?

He of divorcing Sandra at all…
knew it on the day I left.
Emmett easily found the whereabouts of a person.
Just look at whether he wanted to or not.
So, when I saw Emmett downstairs at the guesthouse,
It was not very surprising either.
On an early autumn day, he was wearing a light gray thin windbreaker, leaning against the car body
and smoking.
He was handsome, tall, and every move he made was very eye–catching. In comparison, Lappeared
particularly ordinary.
Loose cotton and linen long skirt, long hair casually tied up with a handkerchief.
Without any makeup, she carried a shopping bag from the supermarket.
She was more like a nanny in the Dudley family’s old mansion.
When I had just married him, I would often feel ashamed of myself.
But now, I have long since figured it out.
Just like home–cooked stir–fry never made it to the luxurious banquet table.
Emmett and I were wrong from the beginning.
He put out the cigarette and looked at me with a faint expression.
I also put down the shopping bag I was holding.
Emmett raised his wrist to check the time, and when he spoke, his voice was as cold as ever.
“Go and tidy up your things, thirty minutes should be enough.
“Did you sign?”
1 reached out my hand to him and said, “Give me the divorce agreement, and I will go to handle the procedures.”

Emmett’s dull eyes still lacked any emotion. It’s just that the color of his pupils had deepened slightly.
“It was not suitable to announce the news of our divorce to the public now.”
“That’s fine, let’s not make it public for now. We can proceed once the formalities are taken care 5.of.”
“Sandra, you know, next week is the company’s anniversary celebration, and you need to attend with me.
Emmett curled his lips, a hint of mockery in his smile.

You chose the perfect timing to make a scene.”
“But you should be clear, I was not someone to be manipulated.”
I didn’t speak, I just watched Emmett quietly.
We had done the most intimate things between a couple.
Men can separate sex and love very well.
Women, however, could not..
The rain did not wet my body, but my heart was soaked.
But Emmett would never understand.
Because he had never loved me.
