Chapter 11
Iwas somewhat surprised, but I didn’t have too many emotions.
“Then let’s go to court.”
“If you wanted to make things escalate.”
“The so–called beautiful story of the past has turned into a joke over tea and dinner.” I smiled indifferently and said, “Then I will accompany you as well.”
Emmett had more to say.
But his phone suddenly rang.
faintly heard Jacey’s name again.
Then his face changed.
“I got it, I will come over immediately.”
He responded urgently in a hurried tone.
He hung up the phone and looked at me again, saying, “Sandra, wait for me to come back, let’s have a good talk.”
But I did not wait for him to come back and talk to him.
I went directly to find Mrs. Dudley.
There was no hiding anything, nor was there ever a word of exaggeration.
I simply repeated exactly what Jacey said, word for word.
Mrs. Dudley could not accept Jacey’s infertility back then..
He was a villain who caused trouble.
Reluctantly, she accepted me as her daughter–in–law under the pressure of the elders, pinching her nose. Over the past three years, she has been neither warm nor cold towards me, but she has also not mistreated me.
When she found out that I was pregnant, she was actually very happy.
But now, her grandson is gone.
I think, even if she hated me, what she hated more would only be Jacey.
lacey wanted to mend her relationship with Emmett.
Mrs. Dudley may never have been able to overcome this hurdle in her entire life.
Jacey had a point.
Iwas actually not a generous person at all.
I was very stingy.
I wished that the person I liked only had me in their heart and mind.
I also hope that the people who hurt me do not live a happy and fulfilling life for the rest of their
lives.
They never had a shred of mercy or guilt when they harmed innocent people.
Mrs. Dudley was a very decisive woman.
Just like back then when she skillfully broke up the mandarin ducks, forcing Jacey to marry far away, she is taking action once again now.
Emmett and I quickly dissolved our marital relationship in a legal sense.
And Jacey, under the thunderous methods of Mrs. Dudley, the Payne family couldn’t withstand the pressure and started forcing her to remarry again.
I heard that she even attempted suicide.
Emmett stayed by her side in the hospital for a day and a night.
I also heard that Emmett was determined to marry Jacey.
Mrs. Dudley got so angry that she gave him two slaps and wanted to kick him out of the Dudley
family.
But all of this had nothing to do with me anymore.
I followed Maci back to a small county town thousands of miles away.
Maci’s backyard was renovated and tidied up again.
I planned to plant roses all over the yard in the coming spring.
When I came out of confinement, Emmett suddenly showed up.
Maci did not open the gate of the yard.
He stayed outside for a long time until dawn before he left. However, the next morning, when I went out to get milk, I saw him again.
In the early winter weather, he was only wearing a thin coat, while I was bundled up in a warm
otton robe from Maci, feeling cold.
You see, we were always like people from two different worlds..
The neighbors curiously stared at him, stopping in their tracks.
After all, in our small county town, it is rare to see such handsome and impressive gentlemen.
But I only glanced at him and then looked away.
When I was young, I was attracted by his appearance and foolishly married him without hesitation.
After all, marriage is like drinking water, one knows best whether it is warm or cold.
I chose my own path, and I also accepted and acknowledged it.
Emmett also did not speak, but he followed me all the way.
