Chapter 13
Back in college, Amara had fallen for an upperclassman.
But the one he was secretly in love with was
- me.
To make the upperclassman give up on me, Amara had ordered her then sidekick, Jayden, to confess his feelings to me.
The slanderous accusations and Jayden’s bold declaration were all part of a play they had staged together.
Even on the day Jayden confessed, the blush staining his ears wasn’t because of me- it was because of Amara, standing not far behind me.
As for the sketchbook filled with drawings of me, Jayden hadn’t drawn a single one.
It was Amara who had stolen it from the upperclassman who admired me, then had Jayden present it as his own to confess to
- me.
In the end, Amara never got together with that upperclassman, and after years of chasing after different desires, she finally realized that the one she truly loved was Jayden, the one who had always pampered and indulged her.
But what she hadn’t anticipated was that, after all that time, Jayden had truly fallen for me–and even wanted to marry me.
Amara glared at me, her teeth gritted, her eyes burning with hatred. If looks could kill, I’d have died a thousand times over.
I had no interest in listening to her sobbing any longer. My mind was focused on just one thing.
My fingertips trembled, my throat dry. “The upperclassman you liked in college… was his name, Bronx?”
Amara didn’t answer, but the shock on her face said it all.
My heart raced.
The B. on the sketches… it wasn’t Jayden’s so–called exclusive mark, it was Bronx’s initials!
No wonder Jayden never drew for me again.
No wonder Bronx had been able to call my name with such accuracy when I first called

him.
No wonder the
felt so familiar.
Okes in Bronx’s drawings
It turns out, everything had been foreshadowed long before!
I pushed my way through the throngs of people and ran home, where I found the sketchbook filled with drawings of me.
Among all the gifts Jayden had given me, it was the only one I had kept.
I had believed it symbolized the purest love from the young boy, Jayden.
But I never imagined that even this love was a lie.
Yet, fortunately… fortunately…

grabbed his hand and gave him a sly smile.
“This is what I call fate–the right person, no matter how many twists and turns, will always find their way back to you.”
Bronx and I locked eyes.
The distance between us closed gradually, and a fiery kiss rained down on my lips, like a
summer storm.
When the kiss ended, I leaned against Bronx’s chest, gasping for air, and he held me, whispering, “Lyn, I heard about what happened today. I was so scared. I feared you might be hurt.”
Bronx’s arms tightened around me. “Lyn, I don’t want to lose you. Please, give me a chance to take care of you!”

Listening to Bronx’s heartbeat, which thundered in my ears, a sense of calm inexplicably washed over me.
I clung to him, holding him tight, and firmly whispered one word, “Okay.”
