Sienna’s POV
13
Lance couldn’t understand it. He never once thought about separating from me, so he couldn’t accept why I was able to heartlessly marry someone else. He was sure that I married Howard out of spite.
So, after the wedding, once Grandpa Sigmund no longer had people watching him, Lance sent me a message.
“Sienna, I’m leaving tomorrow. Can we meet for the last time?”
Third Person’s POV
Lance was certain that if he begged and played the victim, Sienna would show up.
He and his friends had set up a proposal scene, flowers in hand, waiting for her desperately. Everyone believed that as long as Lance humbled himself, Sienna would come running.
This was the most nervous and excited Lance had ever been in his life–he felt like it was his first date, full of the thrill and excitement of young love. He even imagined Sienna running to him just like before, throwing herself into his arms.
But as the night wore on, with only the faintest stars in the sky, he never saw her.
He tried calling her on several phones, but each time he only heard the automated response, saying her phone was off.
Just thinking about what Sienna might be doing with Howard made his heart ache as if it were being torn apart. The pain was so sharp, that even breathing hurt.
As Lance was about to go to Howard’s house to find Sienna, someone suddenly shouted, “Lance, she’s here He excitedly ran toward the car. But when the window rolled down, it wasn’t Sienna. It was Maia, grinning mockingly.
“I heard the known heir of Madrons spent the whole night as a lapdog. That’s a rare sight! If I were Sienna, I wouldn’t look at you twice in this lifetime! Lucky I didn’t marry you, you worthless jerk. Pfft!”
Maia slammed the car window shut, revved the engine, and drove off.
Lance was left standing there, his face full of dirt and anger. He threw the flowers he was holding to the ground, stomping on them until they were crushed.
His friends, who had been ready for the celebration, put everything down and quietly watched him explode in frustration, like a clown having a tantrum.
Someone then whispered, “Late love indeed falls on barren soil.”
Lance couldn’t care about his image anymore. He squatted on the ground, holding his head in his hands, crying uncontrollably.
He finally realized that he had lost Sienna forever. But there was nothing left for him to do except accept it .
