chapter 33: The Choice To Bleed

Theo, please don’t,” I heaved a small sigh, gazing at him with pleading eyes as I watched his muscles strain and relax when

he calmed

He knew I didn’t like people arguing in front of me, and he needed to hear my plan as well. I knew he didn’t want me to have to talk about my past, but it’s an unavoidable topic sometimes. Theo had his doubts about agreeing to help my

father without knowing what all it entailed, but it was too late to

take it back now. And I, on the other hand was ready to do

whatever it took to save my father..

Alex looked at Theo wideeyed, he snapped at him without

warning, taking him by surprise. I knew he was just trying to

help, but Theo clearly didn’t see it that way

It’s okay, Alex, your question is valid,” I replied with a small huff. It isn’t overly complicated, and it should only take a couple of

days to create, but it will take some of my blood to develop it

That clearly bothered Theo, as he had insisted many times

already that I didn’t have to bleed for anyone ever again. But

there was no way that I could avoid it since my blood was

necessary in this instance

chapter 33 The Choice To Beod

It was the key, I had used it as a secret ingredient when making my poison. I watched as Theo’s face turned red with frustration. and his jaws snapped

You don’t have to do this,he growled out, fighting back the

anger that was beginning to rise to the surface again. I shouldn’t have agreed to provide an antidote without fully understanding what all was involved.”

This isn’t on you, Theo, and I offered, already knowing what it

would mean,I spat, I was determined to do this and he couldn’t

talk me out of it

But I agreed without asking what it would take. This isn’t something I want to do,” he responded calmly, trying to steel the

frustration flashing through his eyes

I looked at him as a flurry of emotions coursed through me

when I spoke, It doesn’t matter if you want to do this, it’s going to happen. I hold the only cure in my blood. I used it to make the poison and it’s the only way to treat it,I replied with all the

kindness I could muster

I could tell he wanted to comfort me, but It wasn’t the time for

that. We had a lot of work to do and very little time to do it in

Theo’s pack didn’t know as much about poison as the Red Pack

did, and I knew that he understood that

| Chovne To Pleed

All I could do was involve him as much as possible so he wouldn’t think that I was being forced to do this. I pulled out

vial from my pocket and held it out to him

There is a little poison left in the bottom. We need to draw. some of my blood, take it to the lab, and purify it. Then we can

add the potent extract to the remaining liquid in this tube. It

then needs to sit for 12 hours before being injected into my

father’s blood,I explained the whole process as easily as

could to them

I noticed a hint of sorrow in Theo’s eyes before he turned away

from me. He didn’t want me to do this, but I didn’t have another

choice. I tried to fight back the pain, knowing he was suffering

from the decision that I made, and I was willing to find a way to

make it up to him once my father was healthy again

I will go get the things we need to draw blood from the lab,”

Alex responded, averting his gaze from Theo

That’s fine, but make sure no one knows what exactly you’re

doing,” I ordered before he left the room

Theo paced almost immediately after Alex ducked out. Me

giving up my blood for the antidote shouldn’t have had him that worked up, and I feared that there was something else on his mind

chapter 33 The Choice To Bleed

You’re starting to make me nervous,I remarked as he walked around the room for the umpteenth time

Sorry, I just don’t feel like this is a good idea,Theo mumbled

incoherent words

Alex returned right after what felt like hours and I walked over to the bed, sitting at the edge of it, letting my legs dangle over the

sides. It was very reminiscent of my childhood, only this time I was choosing to give up my blood to save a member of my

family

I’m ready,I said, holding out my arm to Alex

He looked at Theo, probably trying to figure out if he was going

to rip his head off if he touched me. The Alpha nodded in

approval before walking over to me and sitting on the bed

beside me. I winced as the needle went in, but that was the only

reaction I gave

When Alex finished up, Theo gently bandaged my arms. He

used more bandages than necessary but I tried to ignore it

If it made him feel any better about the situation, I wasn’t going

to argue with him. I was more than satisfied to have him there at

my side

I need to get this to the lab and put it in the machine before it

starts to clot. I’ll be back soon,” Alex explained while packing my blood away in a bag. Get some rest, you need it,he added

looking at both of us before leaving the room..

I settled back on the pillows with a sigh. My body screamed in

exhaustion as the loss of blood started to affect me. Theo

crawled in beside me and drew me closer into his arms. I let his

scent slowly envelope me, that sense of relief washing over me

as I felt safe in his arms

I will never let anyone take your blood ever again,he

whispered into my ear

At least Alex knows what he’s doing. It made it the most

pleasant experience I’ve ever had when it comes to giving blood

The last timeI paused, when the thoughts of last time

coursed through me as I remembered how I had forcefully been

made to bleed. The last time it had been Daniel and my father

who came to collect. I put up a fight, but then gave them what

they wanted in the end.”

I closed my eyes and leaned into him. I imagined having to give

blood throughout my childhood might not have been so

traumatic if it had ben given with my consent. It was how they

took my blood that tormented me, not the fact they did it

I am so sorry you ever had to go through that, Samantha. I understand if you want to stay here and let Alex administer the

antidote to Alpha Eric.”

I appreciate your understanding, Theo, but this is something I need to do myself. This antidote is the last thing I will ever give my father. Seeing this through to the end will help me move on

with my life.”

He didn’t have to respect my request, but I knew he would. I needed to be able to end things my way, even if it meant that my mate would be uncomfortable with me doing it

Thank you, by the way.I whispered, half asleep

For what Theo asked, slowly running his fingers through my

hair

For letting me choose to help my father and allowing me to go. through with my choice. I had never been asked for my blood before, they had just taken it when they wanted to. You are the first person to ever tell me I didn’t have to bleed if I didn’t want,” I replied before drifting off into a comforting darkness
