chapter 34: Confessions
Samantha’s POV
The two days following my voluntary blood draw had gone by so
slowly.
I had slept most of the first day because Theo and Alex kept
insisting on it. Sure, I had been tired, but not that tired.
Whenever I woke up, Theo would pressure me to eat something.
By day two I had almost gone crazy and just wanted to get out
of bed and walk around.
Theo treated me like a fragile flower for the entirety of the
second day. Alex spent most of his time in the lab following my
instructions to the tee. The two men spent the rest of the days
taking such good care of me, that I bounced back faster than I
ever did.
“Are you sure you’re feeling up to this ” Theo asked, his gaze
held mine for any signs of uncertainty for what felt like minutes.
I glanced at him, tilting my head to a side when I did. I had
already told him several times that morning that I was
determined to make this antidote for my father, for whatever it
takes. I couldn’t watch him suffer for too long and the mere
dougue alone, made the sain had thes to resp away, tug at
my consciousness
Then was worked about me and I could see the lines marring
his temples as he greted his teeth. He raked his fingers through
shares his shoulders tensed
Tm fine I replied, yet again.
1 dont have a problem administering the injection, Alex said While thoning me an empathetic look. “Or I can just tag along in case you need moral support, he added with a smile.
My lips curled back in a small smile as I tried to assure him. Peally, you two, I’ve got this
Alex shrugged in response, his head ripping nonchalantly when Theo let out a sigh. It wasn’t like I was asking a lot from them. I just wanted to go alone so I could find closure. I knew they meant well, but I wasn’t a child and could stand up for myself if
needed
I walked over and let theo pull me onto his lap. Wrapping my
arms around the nape of his neck and watching the small glint
in his eyes when I did. “Come on, now. This isn’t going to take
long and I’ll be back before you know it,”
Theo held my stare with concern evident on his face. “If you’re

not back in one hour I’m personally going to come find you,” he
announced, his voice gruff when he spoke.
“That makes two of us,” Alex added with a straight face.
“Guys, stop, you’re starting to make me nervous. No one here knows who I am, so there’s no need to think I’m in danger,” I replied, trying to shake off the unsettling feeling that had started to invade my thoughts. I was already on edge and their worries
was only making me more nervous than necessary.
Shifting on his lap, I hopped back on my feet, reaching for the doctor’s bag and picking it off the table by the door. With my
mask in place, I made my way out into the hallway. Small
whispers followed behind me as I made my way to my father’s
chamber. The building had been brought back to life as word
spread that Alpha Cade’s Beta was heading to Alpha Eric’s
room.
Making my way down the familiar halls, I couldn’t help but feel the importance of my task. Thank the goddess I hadn’t made my poison fast–acting, or there wouldn’t have been a reason for
any of this. The only thing that made me truly nervous was the
nagging question of if my father had recognized me or not.
As much as I tried to tell myself that he didn’t, I couldn’t fight the
feeling that somehow, he knew who I was even with a mask on.
Not when his gaze were fixated on me like he could see through
the whole charade.
I paused at the door to his chamber and knocked loudly before
entering. The door swung open and pain ricocheted through me like a fast moving train when I saw how his health had begun to
detoriate. Then again, I couldn’t fight the annoyance that
followed after.
There, sitting beside my ailing father, was his succubus of a wife. I rolled my eyes as I approached the bed with the case in
hand, setting it on the mattress next to the Alpha.
“Just tell me what to do and I’ll take care of it,” my stepmother demanded, holding her hand out with a judgmental look on her
face.
My father sat up in his bed, leaning back onto the stack of pillows behind him with a small groan as he spoke. “Evelyn, why don’t you go check on Mia We haven’t heard from her all
morning and I’m sure she’s having a difficult time with this,” he
said.
“But I want to be here with you, my love. I wouldn’t want something to happen in my absence,” my stepmom tried to argue, glancing back at me with a wary look on her face.
Father’s gaze hardened and his voice dropped low when he turned to face her. “I’m asking you to check on our daughter.
chapter 34: Confessions
Everything here will be fine,” he ordered.
Evelyn definitely wasn’t happy about being told what to do, as
much as she was already beyond livid, she tried not to make a
scene in front of me whom she thought was a guest. If there
was one thing she held above all else, it was the perception of
her image. She gave a slight bow to my father and took her
leave, but not before glaring at me as sheade her way out.
“Is that the antidote Alpha Cade’s doctor came up with ” Father
asked as I pulled out the vial and a syringe.
I nodded, my lips parted but they snapped shut on their own accord when I realized that my voice could give who I was away.
“Please tell him I could never repay his generosity. I still don’t know why he offered to help, but I will spend the rest of my days trying to make it up to him,” he replied.
I hovered above him, noticing just how much he had aged in my absence. I realized that it wasn’t just the poison inside of him this thsd taken a toll on him, but his wife and daughter had added to it all. In no time, I was done preparing the shot I held in my hands but Alpha Eric gestured for me to sit on the edge of
the bed next to him.
He let out his arms for me, holding them close and watched as I obliged his request. I let out a sigh of relief when I realized that

to was wrong and he clearly knew nothing of who I was.
When the needle pierced his skin, i gently pushed out its
contents, showing him a kindness he had never shown me. I
went slowly, making sure the serum didn’t back up in the vein
and burn. The whole procedure could have been a lot more.
painful if I had let it but I couldn’t.
“You remind me of my daughter,” he rasped, making me jolt
where I sat.
If he thought that I was anything like that daughter of his, then.
he was dead wrong. He caught the look on my face and spoke
again,
“Not Vannesa, my other daughter, Samantha,” he added with a
chuckle of his own.
I tried to hide the shock on my face when my skin paled with a
snort and a small smile, waving it off nonchalantly. I wondered
what was it about me that must have reminded him of who I
was even with my guise on. My hands trembled slightly and I
swallowed hard.
“She was a little off, you know She couldn’t connect with her
wolf, but she had helped Daniel create the poison,” he said as I
pulled the needle out of his arm.
chapter 34: Confessions
My heart raced frantically in my chest from fear and dismay, I
rushed back to my feet when I had managed to finish what I had
come for even as my hands trembled and I fidgeted.
“It was a damn shame I had to be the one to father her. Why the
Goddess placed her in my home will be a lifelong question. I will
never know the answer. Her life here had been a mistake,” he
continued when he leaned back to rest on the pillows behind
him.
When the antidote had began to take effect and he stared at me
with dropping eyes, I hurried on my feet, feeleing panic surge.

off the words that he hsd just spoken.
I fought back a tear that stung my eyes, sniffling when I made.

done all the things he did in the past! Him not wanting to have
me as a daughter made perfect sense. I rushed to the door as
he spoke to himself, groggily.
“Samantha, if you are alive, stay away from here. There is
nothing good left for you here,” Those were the words I heard him say as I stepped out into the hallway and slammed the door
shut behind me.

recalled his words again.
My whole life, I had tried to be a devoted daughter to him! I just
wanted to prove to him that I could still be the daughter that he
wanted! I tried! To please him! I did everything else and on the
end, he only saw me as a freaking mistake! Someone too
broken to be useful. couldn’t stop the tears as they pooled and
