Hospital Visit
Entering the hospital room, Genesis noted Tadgh was leaning with his back against the window and his eyes staring at Lorcan who didn’t appear to have moved an inch through the night. She walked straight to Tadgh and slipped into his arms and burrowed into him.
He nuzzled her hair, “you smell good. What body wash did you use?” his voice was teasing.
“Shut up,” she burrowed her forehead into his chest aware Kiefer must have bragged about her joining his shower.
“There’s a shower in the bathroom here. I could use a scrub
down.”
She lifted her lips to shoot him a glare, but he was grinning too much. “Fool.”
“Fool in love with you,” he kissed her lips lightly. “I missed you. I heard you got a standing ovation at lunch. Well, deserved.”
“How well deserved? Too many men died.”
“I agree but their deaths were not on you, Gen. You taking out most of the team who hit our house saved far more lives than we lost. Those meres underestimated you. They expected you were some little housewife who didn’t know what the hell she was doing. Instead, they encountered Genesis O’Reilly.” He kissed

She smiled against his lips, “you need to go home and get some sleep.” She traced the exhaustion on his face with her fingertips. “You need rest.”
“I had a cot here,” he motioned to a folded–up cot against the wall.
“Did you sleep?”
“A couple of hours,” he nodded. “The nurses were in and out of here every couple of hours.”
Genesis didn’t miss the way the two brothers in the room. exchanged looks. “What was that?”
“What was what?” Tadgh feigned ignorance.
“The look.”
Kiefer turned his back to Genesis and made a show of looking over the devices his father was hooked to while Egan was chattering a mile a minute to Lorcan’s sleeping body. Tadgh tried to straighten up off the window, but Genesis kept him pinned in place.

came back to the room six or seven times under the pretense of checking on Dad and then asking me if I needed anything every time. It became obvious she was interrupting my sleep because she wanted to offer something more.”
Rage billowed from her gut, “did she touch you?”
“No. I mean, I came back from taking a piss around nine this. morning and she was making a great display of bending over to pick up a pen she’d purposefully dropped on the floor and the look she gave me over her shoulder was definitely an invitation. Then if I wasn’t getting the message she very clearly asked me if I wanted some company on my cot. Told me the door to the room locked, Dad was not going to be awake for awhile and surely, I must need to do something to alleviate my boredom. instead of watching him sleep.”
“The bitch!” Genesis was seething. “She’s here to do a job, not to get laid.”
“I made it clear I wasn’t interested,” Tadgh chuckled. “I went to the head nurse and asked her to be reassigned to another room.”
“Reassigned to another patient or reassigned to another fucking hospital?” Genesis gritted out furiously.
“Another patient.” Tadgh laughed, “don’t be silly.”
“So, she is still in this clinic bending her arse over for the men who are here?”

“Well, Tadgh, if a male nurse or a doctor came into this room. and flirted with me and suggestively made a show of his cock, what would your thoughts be?”
“He’d be dead,” Kiefer snorted. “Tadgh doesn’t care about me or Dad because he’s my twin and Dad is the OG of us so it’s like. getting three of him, however another man, will die a painful. death.”
She smacked Tadgh’s chest. “Tell me again why she has a job.”
“She didn’t touch me or anything. She just flirted and bent her ass in my face and offered to keep me company on my little cot.” He was struggling not to laugh at Genesis’s fury.
“I want to know who she is.”
“Gen,” Tadgh was laughing now, unable to keep it inside.
“Now!” She grabbed him by the hand, leading him out of the room and hauled him towards the nurse’s station. “Which one?” She waved at the women standing there. “Which one of these medical professionals was it, who thought it was a good idea to flirt with my partner, Tadgh?”
“The brunette,” he motioned to a woman standing at the far end of the counter. “She’s the one I asked to be reassigned after she bent over and made a comment about how flexible she was and offered to fuck me on my col.”
All eyes were on the woman who paled at the way Tadgh openly.

Genesis marched to the woman grabbed her by the hair and slammed her against the wall behind her, “let me make myself clear. You are here to work. If you get fucked while you’re on the job, it makes you a whore for being paid while you get fucked, especially if it’s by the men who own this clinic. If I find out you ever, in a million fucking years, even think another sordid. thought about either of my three partners, you won’t be able to find work drawing blood at a free clinic,” she bounced the nurse’s forehead off the wall, “am I making myself clear?”
“I didn’t know. I thought you were married to the other twin.”
“They’re all mine. Lorcan, Kiefer, Tadgh, mine.” She gave the woman another good crack against the wall, “and before you go make a play for their head of security Jerren, he’s taken by Monica, and I will personally hold you down so she can beat the supreme shit out of you for trying.”
The whispering which was going on before they’d come to the desk was now an uncomfortable silence.
“You are not being paid to flirt, show your ass off or do anything. outside of your professional duties as a nurse and if I catch you making a play for any of my partners, I will end your fucking
existence.”
“I’m sorry,” the woman was crying.
“You saw the head of the family coming in here and thought you were going to make a play for them and what? Be the next Mrs.

“Gen,” Tadgh and Kiefer were now both laughing as they pulled her back.
“I think you made your point, a ghrá,” Kiefer uncurled her hands from the woman’s hair, making eyes at Tadgh as he lifted a clump from Genesis’s fingers and dropped them it to the floor.
“I better have,” she shot the woman another dirty look as Tadgh escorted her back down the hall, but she kept her eyes trained on the woman who appeared genuinely terrified of her. She looked around the desk and all the women working were looking at the floor as if embarrassed. “This is a medical clinic not a fucking whorehouse. See it’s run appropriately, Kiefer or I’ll burn it to the ground.”
Tadgh kept his arms wrapped tight around her as they returned to the room to find Egan on a little stool pulling open his grandfather’s eyelids.
“Egan!”
“I washed my hands first. I wanted to see if his eyes move when he’s sleeping like this.” He wriggled as Kiefer lifted him away from his grandfather. He looked up at his dad, “I can hear him.”
“What?”

“I can hear him.” Egan pointed to his head. “I never heard someone who was still alive before.”

“He’s definitely going to the Sokolov side,” Kiefer whispered to Genesis. “He’s too fucking weird for a bunch of superstitious Irishmen to follow.”
“What do you mean you can hear him?” Genesis ignored Kiefer.
“It’s like he’s talking but I know his lips aren’t moving.” Egan shrugged. “He’s really angry.”
“Angry?”
“He said to tell you if you don’t let him wake up, Dad and Tadgh are going to be joining him in this hospital. He doesn’t like the darkness. He feels trapped.” Egan said seriously.
“Can you hear anyone else?” Tadgh asked moving to stand in front of Egan. He stared into Egan’s eyes, “What am I thinking?”
“I don’t know but you look dumb right now. Do you need to poop?” Egan pulled his head back away from Tadgh. “I can’t hear anyone else,” Egan sighed loudly. “I don’t know why I can hear Granddad, but I can hear him. He’s getting really angry.” He leaned his head sideways to the man who showed no outward signs of any kind of emotion or movement. “He said,” he scrunched his nose, “Mom, he swore. Can I swear?”
“What did he say?” Tadgh encouraged him. “Tell me exactly what he said word for word.”

“He said, Egan I know you hear me, son,” his cheeks stained as he cursed for the first time, “but tell your father if he doesn’t get the doctor in here now to reverse the drugs in my system, I’m going to take him to the training center and remind him who the fuck the head of this family is. He also said, tell princess her ass is going to be sore if she doesn’t make shit happen.” He blinked, “I think you’re the princess he’s talking about Mom and he’s mad.”
Kiefer was pushing Egan into Genesis’s arms as he walked out of the room to go get the physician.
Tadgh leaned over Lorcan, “hey Dad, if you can hear me, tell Egan how old I was when I made my first pipe bomb.”
“Tadgh!” Genesis gasped at the comment.
“He said ten, almost eleven and you nearly lost a finger.”
“Dad is talking to him,” Tadgh pointed to Egan and then high–fived him. “We should go around the other unconscious. people in this hospital and see who needs to be woken up.”
“No thanks. I don’t want strangers in my head.” Egan made wide eyes at Tadgh.
“When I’m sleeping, can you hear my thoughts?” Genesis asked.
“Nope. I can’t. I don’t even know how he is doing it, Mom. It’s not me. It’s him.” Egan pointed at his grandfather. “He came to my thoughts.”

Kiefer came back pushing the doctor into the room, “his mother was gifted. He probably has some gift too and he’s communicating telepathically with our son,” Kiefer griped as he motioned to the man. “Wake him the fuck up. The last time he took me to the training center for a lesson was when Genesis left me, and he broke my orbital bone. We’re not doing that again.”
““I forgot about that!” Tadgh commented. “How did we miss Dad’s attraction to Gen?”
“He broke your face?”
“Because you left me. I thought at the time it was because he was pissed, I made a giant mess. Turns out he wanted my wife.” He shot her a wink.
The doctor checked over his vitals and then sighed, “I don’t agree with this. He needs to rest.”
“I need to live,” Kiefer said bluntly. “Wake him up.”
“I’ll get the nurses to come down and start the process. It could take an hour or two for him to wake.”
“On that note,” Tadgh clapped Kiefer on the back. “I’m going. home. I need to sleep, and I don’t want to be here when he wakes up pissed off.”
“Yeah, me too,” Kiefer nodded at Genesis. “Taking Egan home. I have a bunch of work to do, families to notify, funerals to arrange. There are armed guards all over the place. Shout if you

“Cowards,” she hissed as Kiefer ripped Egan out of his arms and they took off out of the room behind the doctor.
Sitting on the edge of the bed she studied Lorcan and sighed. No good could come of this.
