Chapter 8
“Rosent, when we were together, I never interfered. Not in the past, and I won’t in the future. The world of love is small, and if two . people are meant for each other, there’s no
room for a third.”
“I’ll move out as soon as I can. As for us, let’s just leave things as they are… part ways on good terms.”
It was hard to say anything harsher. After all, he had been someone I loved for years.
I moved into the guest room, and Rosent sat there in the living room, stunned, unable to snap out of it.
I packed through the night, thinking it wouldn’t take much. But when I finally

looked up, half the guest room was filled with my belongings.
The next few days were a whirlwind of work.
That day, Kafir–unable to stop worrying ⚫ about me–came to pick me up for lunch.
As soon as we entered the restaurant, we spotted Rosent and Semond sitting down to
eat.
Rosent was serving food to Semond, affectionately wiping grease from her mouth.
I’d never been treated that way by Rosent. I remembered how I used to love spicy food, but I had given it up for him because of his sensitive stomach.
Kafir grabbed my arm, pulling me to turn away, but just then, Semond noticed us.

“Kafir, Eidora, what a coincidence! It’s been years–how have you both been?”
“Better that we didn’t run into you at all. Things are fine as long as you didn’t come back. I still remember you swearing you’d never return…”
“Kafir, come join us!”
Before Kafir could say anything else, Rosent immediately stood up, cutting him off.
He clearly loved Semond so much that he couldn’t bear to see her upset in any way.
Even so, Semond’s eyes instantly filled with tears. She quickly lifted her head, defiantly saying, “Things are different now. I’m about to marry Rosent, and if I don’t come back, he won’t allow it!”

I froze in place, and just then, my phone rang.
It was my supervisor, urgently needing an online translation.
I rushed back to the office as quickly as possible and dove into the work, but no matter how hard I tried to hide it, my eyes kept welling up.
When I finally finished, I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I broke down, feeling heartbroken and hopeless.
Suddenly, a tissue was handed to me, and a carefree voice followed: “If you need a shoulder, I can lend you mine.”
Finally, when the workday was over, I called Kafir to help me move.

But Kafir couldn’t come because he was tied up with a case.
While I debated which moving company to call, Atherton appeared in front of me once ⚫ again.
“What’s going on? Call me Big Brother, I’ll help you out!”
Atherton, two years younger than me, had been assigned to my team when he first joined the company, and I trained him myself.
Now, he held a higher position than I did, but still liked to hang around with me.
I was still embarrassed about crying earlier at lunch, which made me blush a little when I saw him.

“Alright, alright. You need to move, right?
Let’s get going before it gets dark. Hurry up, don’t mess with my plans, or else there’ll be consequences.”
- I was half–dazed by Atherton’s chatter as I led him to my house.
But as soon as I opened the door, I saw Semond sprawled across the couch.
Atherton rushed forward, yanking Semond up in one swift motion.
“Where did this wild woman come from? Lying around in someone else’s home? Disgusting. What’s next, opening the door to a nightmare?”
“Eidora, you’re back! Please don’t
misunderstand, I was just upset with Kafir

earlier and said those things on purpose… Eidora, I’m lying down because I’m feeling dizzy…”
