Chapter 12
Her words left Charlie seething with anger, his veins hulging
He was about to argue when a voice, cold and heavy, cut him off.
“Didn’t understand?”
“Understood.”
Seeing Charlie lower his head in surrender, Chad, clearly exhausted, said no more. He simply took Jenna’s hand and led her upstairs.
“Since you understood, why haven’t you left? Do I need to call my brother to come pick you up?”
Charlie, too frightened to linger, grabbed Xena and practically ran downstairs.
The villa returned to its quiet state.
Jenna yawned and, feeling the exhaustion of the day, climbed back into bed. As soon as she settled in. Chad pulled
her into his arms.
The car accident what happened? Is the cut on your forehead from that incident? Tell me about it.”
Jenna didn’t want him to worry and tried to brush it off with a light tone.
“It’s nothing, really. It’s all in the past now. You can see, I’m fine, healthy.
Chad frowned as he reached for his phone to arrange for a hospital check up. He interrupted her gently but firmly.
“You’re hurt. That’s not nothing.”
Hearing his concerned tone, Jenna felt her throat tighten, and her eyes stung with the threat of tears. But she held them back, determined not to let her emotions get the best of her.
She told him everything that had happened during this time, starting from when the engagement was arranged.
“After the engagement was settled, I decided I should clear things up with Charlie…”
The following afternoon, Charlie, still groggy from his hangover, was jolted awake by someone shaking him.
He pressed his throbbing forehead, trying to clear his foggy mind. Just as he was about to snap, he saw Xena, her face a mess of tears.
“Charlie, Madam wants to fire my parents and kick our family out of the Spencer family. You have to do something. please!
The hazy images in his head instantly vanished upon hearing her words.

He shot up, disbelief lacing his voice. “Impossible!”
Without wasting a second, he grabbed his phone and dialed his mother to get the truth straight from her.
But as soon as his mother heard his intentions, she hung up the phone.
“This matter is non–negotiable!”
Hearing her firm reply. Xena’s sobs only grew louder as she clung to him, pleading
“Charlie, Young Master, please, you have to persuade Madam. Our family hasn’t done anything wrong! I only want to stay by your side, you must understand my heart, right?”
Seeing her so broken, Charlie’s heart twisted in sympathy. After finding out where his mother was, he rushed to the old residence with Xena’s family in tow.
The usually quiet old residence was filled with people today. Even from a distance, the voices could be heard
echoing.
Charlie had no idea what was going on inside, and as he waited for his mother to come out, Xena’s repeated pleas finally broke his resolve. He barged in without hesitation.
The moment the living room door was flung open, everyone inside turned to look.
Charlie froze when he saw the scene in front of him: Chad and Jenna were kneeling in front of the old Mr. Spencer, offering tea. All the Spencer family members, along with Hall’s parents, were present.
Charlie immediately realized that now was definitely not the right time. He was about to lead everyone out, but Xena’s mother, Aunt Sara, not understanding the situation, fell to her knees before Mrs. Spencer, her voice breaking
with emotion.
“Madam, I’ve served you and sir for over ten years, and the young master grew up under my care. Why would you decide to expel our family without even a word? What have we done wrong? Please tell us, we will fix it!”
The scene became an uproar, with the servants trying to keep the peace, but Mrs. Spencer’s face darkened immediately.
“Enough! Whatever the issue is, we’ll discuss it later. This is the old residence, Aunt Sara, you’ve overstepped!”
The mention of the “old residence” made Aunt Sara even more frantic, and she knelt before the old Mr. Spencer in desperate pleas
In the blink of an eye, what was supposed to be a tea ceremony became a courtroom for grievances.
Xena’s family insisted that the old Mr. Spencer intervene, while Mr. and Mrs. Spencer were growing dizzy with anger, unable to stop them due to the formal setting and social niceties.
The old Mr. Spencer, known for his kindness, was always lenient with the servants. So, upon hearing Aunt Sara’s distress, he couldn’t help but get involved.

But Xena, immersed in her misery, mistakenly thought he was giving up on her. In desperation, she continued to how repeatedly.
Just as the tension was about to reach an impasse, Chad picked up a cup from the table and smashed it in front of Xena’s family.
The sound of shattering glass rang out, and the once chaotic living room fell silent in an instant.
After carefully sitting Jenna down, Chad approached the old Mr. Spencer, slightly bowing
“Dad, why don’t you and Uncle Hall and Aunt Hall go upstairs to chat over tea? I’ll handle this matter. I promise I’ll give you and our family a proper explanation.”
