Chapter 6

Are you sure about this?Jeron’s voice was calm, but his gaze was sharp as he watched me

I met his stare without hesitation. I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

Keith thought he could walk away from this. Not this time.

I had spent weeks gathering every shred of evidence I could find. Traffic footage. Medical reports. Witness testimonies. Everything pointed to one truthKeith caused the accident that left me deaf and paralyzed for three years

And now, it was time for him to pay

The Covey family’s influence had helped me track down a witnessan old man who had seen everything that night. He had seen Keith stumble out of his car, drunk, panicked, reckless, moments before my world shattered

I handed the file to our legal team, my hands steady. Submit this to the court. I want this trial to happen as soon as possible.} The attorneys nodded, immediately getting to work. I watched them go. Keith thought I was weak. He was wrong

But I knew he wouldn’t give up easily. He still kept on messaging me, but none of it was answered. How dare he ask for forgiveness?} The courtroom was silent as Keith’s attorney stood, voice firm

The evidence is circumstantial,he argued. Traffic footage can be edited. Witnesses can be bought. This is nothing but a baseless accusation.

Keith sat beside him, expression unreadable, gaze locked on me. He didn’t look afraid. He looked confident.”

I clenched my fists under the table. This wasn’t enough

Jeron leaned in, whispering, He’s going to fight this to the end.”

I know.”

My mind raced. If evidence wouldn’t shake him, then I needed someone who would

Damian. Keith’s closest friend. The one who had sat beside him that night, laughing in Italian about how Keith had caused my accident

If I could get Damian to testify, this case would be over

I turned to Jeron. We need to bring him in.”

Jeron arched a brow. Do you think he’ll talk?

No.My voice was firm. But I’m not giving him a choice.”

Damian refused to cooperate

I don’t know anything,he spat when we confronted him in his office. His hands were trembling, but his voice remained steady.Liar

I took a step forward, my voice dangerously low. You were there that night. You know exactly what happened.

I don’t-”

Jeron cut him off with a smirk. That’s a shame. It would have been easier if you had spoken voluntarily.”> Damian stiffened. What do you mean?

Jeron leaned back, tapping his fingers against the desk. You own a shipping company, don’t you?

Damian paled.”

Would be a shame if your investors suddenlypulled out.” Jeron’s smile was sharp. I hear financial ruin is quite unpleasant.} Damian swallowed hard. You wouldn’t.

I crossed my arms. I would.

A long silence stretched between us until he spoke, No. I still will not testify.”

Fine. I didn’t force him to. At least for now, I didn’t need to. I was just hoping that the old man that would testify would be enough. However, the next morning a disaster struck. Our only key witnessthe old man who had seen the accidentnever showed up

Instead, we received a hospital report. Hitandrun. Critical condition. Unconscious

Keith. I knew it before anyone had to say it.”

I stormed into the hallway, Jeron close behind me. Where are you going?}

I spun around, fury boiling in my chest. To confront him.

Keith was waiting for me outside the courthouse, arms crossed, his face calm.§

I didn’t hesitate. You did this.”

He tilted his head. Did what?”

Don’t play games with me,I hissed. You silenced him. You made sure he couldn’t testify.”

Keith sighed, as if I were being unreasonable. Katherine, people get into accidents all the time.”

I saw red

I raised my hand, ready to slap him again, but Keith caught my wrist this time. His grip was firm but not painful. I’d be careful if I were you,he murmured

I yanked my hand away. This isn’t over.}]

12.03 PM

His smirk deepened. It is if you have no witnesses.”

I turned on my heel and walked away, my heart pounding

This wasn’t over. Not even close

That night, Jeron and I came up with a new plan

We force Damian to testify now,Jeron said. Before Keith realizes what we’re doing.

Keith must have paid or whatever he had done that was why Damian didn’t want to become a witness. However, she would not allow that, so that night they attacked his shipment. And later on, they received a call from Damian saying he was now willing to testify

Three days later, the trial resumed. Keith walked in, looking victorious. He thought we had nothing

Then the doors opened, and Damian stepped inside as the witness.

Keith’s smirk vanished. All I could see was his eyes turning into shock, panic, and fear. Then, slowly I watched as his world began to

crumble
