Ljumped up and went to my desk to grab my files. Picking out a specific one, I handed it to him. He frowned white opening it. Look here,” I pointed to the top paragraph, which I’d copied from a legal textbook “According to pack law, I found a solution. I made some notes right there.”
“Where?” he asked, leaning forward.
I had to bend over to point it out. “Here.” As he rested his arm on the chair, I leaned in closer and said, “I went through all the laws and found something interesting on the back page.” Excited, I flipped to that page for him, not realizing I was pressing against his side.
“What do you think about my research?” I asked hopefully, biting my lip
“This is much more complicated than I initially thought,” he groaned, turning to look at me with darkened eyes. “We need to sit down and do some serious research. This isn’t a quick fix. You’ll need to stay in my territory for a day… no, make that a week. Maybe even two.”
“Oh!” My mood sank as I remembered Julian was coming. “I can’t…” I muttered, stepping back.
The door suddenly swung open, and Julian walked in. I froze in shock as his eyes swept the room before landing on me. I startled. “Julian? You didn’t even call.”
“What, I need permission to see my wife now? Hope I’m not interrupting,” he said, shooting a glare at Alpha Dominic, who stood and gave a respectful bow.
“You’re not interrupting anything.” I said nervously, glancing at the scattered files. Damn. If he saw these, he’d lose it and probably lock me up.
“Alpha Julian,” Alpha Dominic said, “I knew you were coming. Good to see you. We need to talk, actually.”
I was surprised–if Alpha Dominic knew about his visit, why hadn’t he told me?
Julian gave a terse nod. He strode over, wrapped his arm around my waist, and pulled me against him. I froze, stunned. I’d expected anger, not this embrace.
He kissed my temple. “Missed you, my Luna. Should’ve let me know. See what happens? I had to come get you myself. Stop playing games with your husband.” He kissed my cheek with a smirk.
That’s when it hit me–Julian was just putting on a show for Alpha Dominic. His embrace held no warmth. I was just property to him, a toy he refused to give up. He hadn’t come all this way to the Thunderforge Pack for me, but to show Alpha Dominic and everyone else that he still owned me. It hurt, I won’t lie. Whatever was left of our mate bond made me melt into his embrace despite myself. It made me furious, but showing that anger would mean losing before the fight even started. From the corner of my eye, I caught Alpha Dominic’s clenched fists, his rage apparent. That confused me even
more.
I pressed my hands against his chest, trying weakly to push away. “You know I came to discuss the Blue Bay Project,” I said, keeping my voice steady.
you, but you should’ve waited. I
Julian dropped his arms and smiled. “I know, baby, and I’m proud of you, was busy.”
I wanted to slap him, but Alpha Dominic delivered an even better verbal blow.

“Oh right!” Alpha Dominic said. “Busy with Violet. How’s she doing? Those pregnancy hormones must be wild. What’s the doctor saying? You should’ve brought her along.”
Julian’s cheeks flushed as he coughed slightly, catching Alpha Dominic’s dig. “Actually, she can’t move much,” he replied. “Doctor’s orders–she needs to stay put. She wanted to come but couldn’t. I came for you,” he said, turning to me. “I want you with me, Blair.”
My jaw dropped, but I recovered quickly. If he was so eager to be with me, why get Violet pregnant? Why not kick her out of our marriage? Such a hypocrite. Really, Violet and Julian deserved each other. I’d never wanted out of this marriage more than now. “I still have details to work out,” I lied, hoping he wouldn’t force me to leave with him.
“That can wait, baby,” Julian insisted. “Pack your bags. We’re leaving now. Gather your files.” He turned to Alpha Dominic. “Sorry, Alpha Dominic, I’ll send Nash to handle this from now on. The pack needs Blair. I want my Luna by my side.”
“Not so fast, Alpha Julian,” Alpha Dominic chuckled. “Remember our agreement from two days ago?”
Julian opened his mouth but shut it just as quick.
Alpha Dominic smiled coldly. “That’s what I thought. You wouldn’t have made this pointless trip to retrieve Luna Blair otherwise.”
I stared at Alpha Dominic in surprise. “What agreement?” I hadn’t known about any deal between them. As far as I knew, negotiations were just starting. I looked at Julian, who flushed and avoided my gaze completely.
Alpha Dominic raised an eyebrow. “You really don’t know about the deal!” A statement, not a question.
I swallowed hard, feeling utterly embarrassed. “No.”
