A knock pulled me from my thoughts. When the door opened, there stood Alpha Dominic holding a folder, his eyes fixed intently on me.
My face flushed under his gaze. “Alpha Dominic, I’m ready.”
“You look beautiful,” he said softly, his eyes taking me in.
I drew a shaky breath, surprised by how his compliment affected me. “Thanks.”
He stepped inside and handed me the papers. Here’s your signed copy of the contract.”
I took them with trembling hands. Having these documents felt like my first taste of freedom. “Thank you.” I walked to the desk and tucked them safely in a drawer.
He offered his arm as we headed to the driveway, where curious eyes followed us. I couldn’t help fidgeting. A chauffeur stood by an SUV, but Alpha Dominic said, “I’ll drive today!” The chauffeur looked startled but bowed and handed over the keys. Alpha Dominic opened my door, waited until I was
settled, then hurried to the driver’s side. We were on the main road within minutes.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“To make your stay official,” he smirked.
Goddess! Up close, he was even more handsome. His hair was neatly combed back, his face freshly shaved. In his blue dress shirt and black pants, he looked like he’d stepped out of a magazine. I kept stealing glances, watching how his muscles moved. As we drove deeper into pack territory, I felt oddly proud that such an impressive Alpha wanted me as his contract Luna for a year.
Our first stop was a massive field with one giant oak tree, its ancient branches reaching skyward. “My ancestors held important pack meetings here,” he explained. “Now we use an office building for pack business.” He reached over and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, making me blush again. “This is where I want you to implement the Blue Bay Project.”
“Oh!” I gazed across the vast, dry field stretching as far as I could see. “I’d love to start, but we’d need to do a survey first. And looking at how big this is, it’ll need serious investment.
“Whatever you propose is fine with me,” he said, eyes still on me.
“But you haven’t even heard the project details,” I pointed out nervously.
“Don’t need to–I trust your abilities.” My jaw dropped as I met his gaze. He gently lifted my chin with his fingers. “Why so unsure of yourself, Blair?” His eyes sparkled. “I know you can do it.”
I was speechless–Julian had never praised me like this. Fighting back tears, I nodded. How strange that Alpha Dominic made me feel so valued while being with Julian only made me feel worthless. How is this possible?
Next was the training grounds–a huge clearing. “Our advanced warriors train here under my Beta, Kade,” he said proudly.
“What about newly shifted wolves?” I asked, absently touching my scarf.
“They train at the pack house. I work with them every morning.”

Though training grounds were usually off–limits, he’d chosen to show me. I felt honored.
We drove to the pack’s border, stopping at a crystal stream. He parked nearby and led me to the water’s edge, where moonlight danced on the surface through the trees. “In summer, after training or pack runs, wolves come here to drink and swim. They play and howl together. My great–grandfather started this tradition to build pack unity.”
I loved the idea–we had nothing like this. “But your pack is huge,” I said. “Everyone comes?”
He laughed and moved behind me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. “No, some come, some don’t.”
I hesitated and pulled away, but his frown made me let him pull me back. This time he cupped my cheek and held my waist against him. His touch was electric. There was something overwhelming about him–not just his masculinity and heat, but a raw intensity I’d been craving.
“Alpha Dominic?” I whispered needily. Before I could continue, his lips met mine.
My first kiss in almost a month.
I whimpered, hands pressing his chest to push away, but goddess, it felt amazing. An embarrassing moan escaped into his mouth. He gripped my neck and parted my lips with his tongue. When I opened for him, he deepened the kiss with a groan that vibrated through me, his tongue exploring dominantly.
His hand gripped my waist as the kiss intensified and I melted against him. My mind said stop, but between kisses I heard myself say, “Yes…”
He grew more aggressive, almost fierce, claiming my mouth roughly. He lifted me off my feet, pressing his hard length against my stomach. He was the most sinful kisser I’d known.
How could I feel such explosive desire? Surely it was because Julian’s rejection made me want another man so badly. But I’d never felt this way about anyone else. Everything was confusing and overwhelming. I forced myself to pull away. His brows furrowed.
We stared at each other, breathing hard. My lips trembled as I said, “You can’t do that!” Then a voice whispered in my mind, ‘He’s nice. Have faith in him!‘
I jerked back. How could I hear my wolf? Sage had been sleeping. ‘Sage?‘ I called, but got no response. Was I imagining things?
