After a long silence, Adam spoke hoarsely, “I’ll have someone distract Charlotte, then arrange for her to get knocked out. When Charlotte wakes up, we’ll tell her you’ve already donated bone marrow, but her mom died anyway”
The entire venue fell dead silent. Only the conversation between Alisha and Adam on the large screen could be clearly heard.
“Perfect! She won’t know anything then. I can also avoid donating bone marrow while maintaining my public image! Later, when that old
woman dies, I can even play the victim card!”
After saying this, Alisha displayed a cold–blooded and cruel smile.
It was as if the person waiting on the operating table for the bone marrow transplant wasn’t human but rather a plant that couldn’t feel pain.
“Emergency! The patient has lost too much blood from waiting too long. She’s already lost all vital signs!”
Following the nurse’s urgent cries from outside the hospital room, footsteps scrambled in confusion.
The video abruptly cut off.
Mia’s life was ruthlessly snuffed out by these two people’s casual conspiracy.
The video wasn’t long but detailed the conversation from a hidden camera angle. I found the nurse responsible for that surgery through a list
on Adam’s computer and approached her privately. She was the one who secretly recorded this.
The nurse told me, “I was terrified. If Adam dared to hurt you, his own girlfriend, then he might kill all of us who knew the truth just to feel safe.
That’s why I… I’ve lived in constant fear all these years. Now that you know, I can finally be free.”
The video was brief and blurry but contained enough damning information.
Everyone in the room stared in stunned silence.
Alisha, standing beside me, only reacted after the video finished playing. She screamed frantically, ignoring the cameras.
“How was this recorded? It’s fake! This video is completely fabricated to frame me! Who did this? I really did donate bone marrow! Who’s trying to set me up? It must be a competitor! They’re jealous of my success and sent haters after me!”
No one in the room believed a word Alisha said.
When Alisha noticed everyone’s silence, she quickly changed tactics.
She turned to me, grabbing my hand desperately, trying to convince me. “Charlotte, you believe me, right? I honestly donated bone marrow! There were news reports about it! You saw them yourself! Your mother’s condition was just too severe, and the treatment came too late. Besides, bone marrow transplants aren’t 100% successful! Patients can still die even with a proper donation!”
I glanced at Alisha coldly and yanked my hand away from her grip without responding. Then, I slowly shifted my gaze to the audience.
“Adam, I have a question for you. About my car accident, my mother’s death, whether Alisha actually donated bone marrow, and this video playing on the screen… do you have anything to say?”
Adam instinctively wanted to explain and cover up his actions.
But quickly, he realized something wasn’t right.
Adam initially thought some troublemaking rival had leaked the video and was causing drama at the press conference. He figured he could just stick to his story and continue deceiving me.
But things started to click when he saw my unusually calm face and connected it with my recent strange behavior.
I had always been dedicated to artistic integrity and never worked with actors of questionable talent. Why would I suddenly organize an elaborate press conference to promote someone like Alisha?

In an instant, Adam understood everything.
This show was my careful design, specifically to expose their crimes?
If you spotted one cockroach in the light, it meant the darkness was already crawling with them.
