Chapter 7
The fact that I could present this video to the media as a preview meant I had gathered overwhelming evidence against him. Any explanation he might offer would be completely worthless.
Adam’s lips trembled slightly before he hung his head.
He closed his eyes like he was trying to escape and whispered softly.
“I’m sorry.”
His empty apology instantly ignited the anger I had suppressed for so long.
I couldn’t help but shout at him.
“Sorry? Is your apology supposed to be worth something, Adam? That car accident left me with so many permanent injuries. My mother died in agony on the operating table because of Alisha’s donation scam, and I never even got to say goodbye! Then you swooped in with your superiority complex and arrogantly offered me a marriage, all while having your affair with Alisha behind my back. You kept saying you loved me! Did you think that would make everything better? Who the hell do you think you are, Adam? What gives you the right?”
Each word I spoke hit Adam like a hammer to his heart.
With the gentle facade of our fake marriage torn away, all that remained between Adam and me was raw, bleeding hostility.
I watched as his face turned pale, and he fell silent.
Without looking at him again, I turned and took a thick stack of evidence from my agent.
“These are the documents proving Alisha has been faking her charity work since her career began. Please take a look, members of the press!”
As soon as I finished speaking, Alisha charged at me like a madwoman.
She grabbed the stack of papers, completely losing her composure as she frantically tore and destroyed them.
“They’re fake! All fake! Charlotte, you bitch! You won’t ruin me. Without evidence, I’m still a star.”
Watching Alisha’s unhinged behavior, I let out a mocking laugh.
“Alisha, you’re pathetically stupid. These are just copies. If you want to tear things up, you’ll have plenty of time to do that in prison.”
The moment I finished speaking, police officers flooded the venue.
Even as they placed handcuffs on her wrists, Alisha made excuses.
“I didn’t do it! I really donated! I never scammed anyone! Charlotte is framing me because she’s jealous. You should arrest her instead! Someone help! Take this woman away and let me go!”
Alisha screamed incoherently.
Her face flushed with anger, her perfectly styled hair now a complete mess. She looked like a deranged woman who had lost her mind.
The police paid no attention to her wild accusations.
Without hesitation, they dragged her off the main stage of the press conference and shoved her into a police car.
In her final seconds before the car door closed, Alisha still lived in a fantasy.

“Addie! Save me! I know you can fix this. You’re so powerful. You can save me this time, too, right?”
I let out a snort.
Sitting in the audience, Adam was Alisha’s accomplice and the mastermind behind this case. He could barely save himself.
There was no way he could help Alisha escape legal consequences.
As the police sirens faded in the distance, I stayed true to the original purpose of this press conference and slowly walked to center stage.
Under the media’s watchful eyes, I pulled back a red cloth.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I want to officially introduce my film’s title, ‘Silent Tears‘! This movie is based on my personal experiences. Though the screenplay isn’t finished yet, he is the best writer in this crowd. I’m not the first person harmed by Alisha’s fake charity work, but I hope to be
the last.”
