Alisha looked at Adam in disbelief.
“Addie, you didn’t help me this time? Why aren’t you saying anything? Adam, answer me!”
Adam stared at the unstable woman in front of him who showed no remorse for her actions.
She seemed like a completely different person from the sweet, vulnerable childhood friend he remembered. He barely recognized her
anymore.
He wondered if she had changed that much or if she had just been that good at pretending.
“Alisha, when you do something wrong, you have to face the consequences.”
Hearing Adam’s words, Alisha immediately panicked.
Her entire body began to shake uncontrollably, as if she finally understood what she was about to face.
She turned back toward me and cried out, “I’m really going to prison… for fifteen whole years… Charlotte, I’m sorry! I truly know I was wrong. I’ll… I’ll apologize to you, I’ll get on my knees, I’ll make it up to you! Or how much money do you want? My family is very rich, I can pay you!”
I made no effort to hide the hatred in my eyes as I stared directly at Alisha.
“If I could, I would make you pay with your life. I wish you could bleed out completely in eight hours, dying slowly on an operating table.”
My chilling words and cold gaze stunned Alisha into silence.
She collapsed to the ground in fear, looking at me with absolute terror.
She kept shouting right up until the moment the guards took her away.
“I don’t want to go to jail! I know I was wrong! Please don’t send me to jail!”
She hadn’t realized her mistake. She’d only realized her fear.
After the trial ended, I visited my mother.
Her gentle smile remained unchanged on the headstone.
My fingertips touched her picture, and tears fell before I could speak.
I hung my head and spoke through a tight throat.
“Mom, the trial is over. They’ve all been punished. I’m sorry I failed you. I misjudged those people, and it got you killed… Are you still angry with me? It’s been three years, and I haven’t dreamed of you once. Mom, I miss you so much…”
Something seemed to brush gently across my head.
I looked up instinctively as a leaf, blown from some nearby tree, landed softly on my hair. The leaf had been warmed by the sun, creating a tender, comforting sensation.
It felt just like Mom’s gentle touch.
I knew then that she missed me too.
After leaving the cemetery, I began work on the screenplay and production of “Silent Tears“.
I wrote the screenplay based on my own experiences and those of other victims.
I turned down offers from trending celebrities and instead chose actors with solid foundations and genuine talent.
The process went smoothly as we created what would become a suspenseful revenge thriller.
After the film’s release, it became an instant sensation.
It easily claimed the top spot at the box office for its release period, steadily climbing to challenge films with even higher total earnings.
That same year, it was nominated for the industry’s highest honor, the Golden Ring Award.
I attended the ceremony as an invited guest, sitting under the spotlights eagerly waiting for the host to announce the final winner.
“And the winner for Best Picture at the 30th Golden Ring Awards is… ‘Silent Tears‘!”
I felt a rush of surprise and joy, excitedly standing to embrace those around me.
I had thought I could maintain my composure during this thrilling moment.
But when I stood up, my emotions moved faster than my body.
I couldn’t control my tears anymore and didn’t care what anyone thought. I let my emotions silently pour out as I walked step by step toward the stage.
This path carried so much weight. It paved with my mother’s life, Alisha’s hypocrisy, and Adam’s arrogance.
It also held my own breaking and rebuilding.
It wasn’t just a lengthy film project, but my desperate fight to save myself.
“We all know how young Ms. Hayes is. Creating such exceptional work while facing gender discrimination in the industry and overcoming personal trauma is truly remarkable. As someone who has lived through this and now leads the way, what message would you like to share with everyone?”
Holding the heavy award in my hands, I felt confetti falling around me from above.
With tears in my smile, I spoke into the microphone, ending my story with these words.
“Please, I beg you, again and again, without end, thousands upon thousands of times, without hesitation… save yourself from this world’s fire and water!”
