Chapter 23
“She will get what’s coming to her. You should rest now,” he said sofily.
Nina smiled in satisfaction and wrapped her arms around his waist, acting coy. “Til listen to whatever you say. You’ll be with me at the Purar exhibition tomorrow night, right?”
“Of course. Not just my brother, but Mom and I will be there too, to see Nina’s designs at the Purar show, Soon, you’ll be a world–class jewelry designer. Before Edric could respond, Janice and Pandora walked in.
Seeing the pair, Pandora couldn’t help but sigh. “Nina is so young, and she’s already about to become a world–class designer. Unlike Talia, that useless good–for–nothing
“She really embarrassed our Russell family. Heaven must have been blind to not let you marry her, Edric”
Talia sneezed loudly at the airport
As Talia reached for a tissue in her bag, a white handkerchief–lightly scented with lemon–appeared in front of her.
She looked up, totally surprised, and her face lit up with a huge smile. Standing before her was someone tall–at least 6 feet–short, neatly styled hair, giving off that fresh, boyish vibe, like a male idol.
Her sharp features and confident gaze made her look even more striking. Her eyes sparkled with warmth as she smiled and said, “Talia, long time
It was Deanna Bray, her senior from university.
“Long time no seer Without thinking, Talia practically jumped into her arms. “So the surprise Alina mentioned was you!”
The first time Talia met Deanna, she thought she was the campus heartthrob who had mistakenly wandered into the girl dorm. But later, as they both worked toward finding a cure for Curtis, they bonded over shared interests and became close friends.
However, after graduation. Deanna suddenly disappeared without a word, and they hadn’t been in contact since.
“Look at you two, all cuddly—what a beautiful sight!” Alina teased, snapping pictures with her camera.
Talia couldn’t help but smile. Alina looked stunning today, wearing a silk camisole, her chestnut–colored waves cascading down her back like a waterfall, swaying with the breeze.
She was dazzling, like a sunflower under the summer sun–bright and full of energy. Her presence warmed Talia’s broken heart.
She pulled away from Deanna and wrapped her arms around Alina. In her previous life, Alina had urged her to divorce, but Talia hadn’t listened. and their friendship had fractured. In the end, it was Alina who helped her pick up the pieces.
Talia tightened her hold on Alina, cherishing the moment even more. “Alina, you’re even more beautiful now.”
“You look great too. Guess divorce really does make people look younger Alina cupped her face, genuinely surprised. “You look different, Talia. Im so glad you finally came to your senses”
“Divorce?” Deanna asked, confused. “You and Edric? But he loves you so much… how could this happen?“”
Talia lowered her gaze, a shadow crossing her face. Even Deanna couldn’t believe Edric could change.
“How could it not? All men are pigs! Edric’s heart started changing after graduation! I’m telling you, Talia has suffered so much this past year! Alina chimed in, her voice full of anger.
Twe already booked a private room to celebrate Talia finally seeing the light. Tonight, the three of us won’t stop until we’re all drunk!” Alina said.
At the bar, Alina was more animated than Talia, venting about Edric’s misdeeds. “That bastard made Talia donate blood for his mistress! How could he even say that?”
“I can’t believe he’s this much of an asshole!” Deanna pulled Talia into a tight hug her face full of concern. “You need to wrap up that divorce ASAP. Stay the hell away from that scumbag and his little mistress. Get your head on straight”
Talia gave a small, knowing smile and nodded. “I’m clearer than ever. I gave him the divorce papers today, but, of course, he didn’t sign”
“Why the hell didn’t he sign them? Does he… want to- Alina put her dri
