Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Lyra Hades
Five months later
The last five months have been the worst days of my life. The sickness of the first trimester, and the stress of working many jobs to provide for myself, my unborn babies, and of course, to pay up the debt I got myself into
After I left the hospital five months ago, I took a loan to pay my manager, and has since been paying monthly.
My phone pinged with a text as I was getting ready to go to the hospital for my antenatal.
Ten thousand dollars has been deducted from your balance to pay your loan for the month of November. Your outstanding loan balance is five thousand dollars. Your main balance is $205
I exhaled, putting my phone away and continued applying make–up on my face. I guess I’m going to have to spend the two hundred and five dollars for the rest of the month, which was not possible since the month was just beginning and I had a lot of things to pay for, of course, including my house rent.
After I was sacked five months ago, I did many jobs, which included working as a bartender in a nightclub when I was barely two months pregnant I was sexually harassed and assaulted many times, putting my life and my baby’s at risk, but we always managed to get out of it safely. I had to eventually quit as the stress was much and it was already draining me
A small smile formed on my lips when I felt a small bubble in my stomach, and I gently rubbed it. My unborn babies have been the only reason I have to smile.
I found out that I was carrying sextuplets when I went for my first scan, and ever since then, I increased my hard work so I would be able to provide for my baby.
After I was done getting dressed, I left for the hospital.
My heart pounded hard in my chest as I lay flat on the long bed as the doctor scanned my stomach while I stared at the flat screen where my baby was displayed, the sight of it inviting a warm smile to my face.
I looked at the doctor’s face almost every passing second to read his expression as I couldn’t wait for him to tell me how my baby was doing.
After he was done, he cleaned my stomach with a tissue paper before turning to me with a smile on his face.
by is fine, so you have nothing to worry about.
“Your baby
1 sighed in relief.
“Your stress level is high, so you need to get more rest, and try to get enough sleep. Also, your body lacks iron and protein, make sure you eat enough proteinous food. You are going to be given a few medicines to take to correct the iron, and you’ll be fine.” He said to me, and I nodded as I
thanked him
as the doctor had instructed.
After the antenatal session, I went back to the house to get enough rest as
I was just stepping inside my room when I got a text, and I hesitated as I was already tired, but I eventually checked it,
that you are
Ms Hades, we hope this email finds you well. After going through your curriculum vitae, and after the interview, we are glad to tell you hired to be a part of The lunar Palette museum to assume the position of a tour guide. Please come to the company to discuss your pay and when you’ll be starting. Looking forward to working with you. Best regards, HR, Juan Wolff“,
My eyebrows furrowed shockingly as I stared at the screen of my phone, unable to believe the message I just got. Four months ago, I had submitted an application to this company which happened to be one of the top five most successful museums in the world. I waited for months until 1 eventually gave up after they took my curriculum vitae and told me they would get back to me without doing it
My heart wavered excitedly at
dly at this opportunity as I sat on the bed, but realising that I was heavily pregnant and would probably have little chance of getting accepted now, my smile faded and my excitement disappeared. I thought I was going to be hired then so I could work for a few months and gather some money since their pay was quite good, but I wasn’t lucky then
“No way they are going to hire a heavily pregnant woman even if the doctor didn’t tell you to rest
I told myself as I tossed my phone away and exhaled deeply. This was the opportunity that I’ve been waiting for, but I couldn’t even take it now,

Chapter 4
My thoughts were disrupted by the sound of the knock on my door.
“Who is there?” I muttered, wondering who was at the door since I wasn’t expecting anyone.
1 hesitantly left my bed and went to the living room to get the door, however, my heart skipped and I froze on the spot the moment I opened the door and was welcomed by the most unexpected person.
“Good to see you again, wife. I see, our baby is doing well in there.” A smirk crept up his face, as he glanced at my stomach and back to my face.
“En…zo?” My voice came out in a whisper, and at that moment, my heart stopped beating for a few seconds.
“Aren’t you going to let your husband in?” His smirk grew into a grin. A scary grin that sent shivers down my spine and made me swallow my
breath
I was still trying to regain from the shock when he pulled me away from the door and made his way inside.
He looked around for a few seconds then turned to me with a smile on his face as he said. “Your house looks beautiful, but you know it’s not as beautiful as the packhouse and my apartment, right?” His calmness was terrifying. Behind his calmness and smiles, lies the rage I wouldn’t want to ever break loose
“Lyra…” he paused, his smiles faded in a split second, and a deep frown settled on his face as he asked. “Did you think you could ever get away from
me!”
He tucked his hands inside his pockets, taking steps closer to me, and I couldn’t bring myself to move from the spot as I stood staring at him, my heart pounding hard in my chest.
He leaned close to me, our faces just inches apart as he gazed into my eyes and said. “I’m sorry, darling wife, but that is a dream that will never come true for you. You owe me for a lifetime, and you have to pay for it. You have no right to run away from me.” He pinched my check and smiled before straightening his back.
“Go get your things and join me in the car outside, Lyra. We are going back home.” He said coldly with finality in his voice as a deep frown settled on his face. He didn’t spare another second before heading toward the door, and I finally spoke up for the first time.
“I’m not going with you.”
My heart wavered fearfully when he stopped walking, turning to me with rage in his eyes.
“I’m not going to repeat myself, Lyra. You don’t want to mess with me, trust me.” And with that, he walked out of my living room without sparing another glance.
My heart pulsated and my body trembled fearfully as I stood on the same spot, unable to move, I knew I was doomed for life this time. There was no way I could escape him now, and he would never spare me if I tried to.
The nightmare I thought I had managed to get away from was just my illusion. I have only been walking around a cycle, and ended up in the same place as him yet again.
I was still standing there when my phone beeped with a text popping on the screen.
“If you dare play games with me, then I hope you won’t blame me for making your family pay for it?
My heart wrenched painfully and tears streamed down my cheeks as I read the text. I had no idea how he got my number since I changed my phone number some months ago, but that didn’t matter right now. Alpha Enzo was a man of his words who would never give empty threats. He would really take out his anger on my parents and the whole pack if 1 dared disobey him.
At that moment, I knew that I had to accept my fate and go back with him. But the question is, will I allow any one of them, even the alpha to walk on me like I was a piece of trash ever again! Will I be a pushover again? The answer is no! He is going to pay for ever making me into the stupid woman I wasn’t brought up to be. He’ll regret coming after me, and that is a promise….
