Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Alpha Enzo
After I was done cooking, 1 arranged the food carefully on the tray and called Claudia to come help me deliver it to Lyra. I really wanted to deliver it to her myself, and probably feed her if I have a chance to, but I feared she would reject the food if I did it myself
I went to the guest room where I’ve been staying since Lyra moved back into the house.
My phone pinged with a text as soon as I sat on the bed with my MacBook tablet, ready to go through my emails since I haven’t checked it in a
However, I was disappointed when I checked the text and found out that it was from Amber.
“Hey! I guess you’ve been having a hard time. Do you want to hang out with me? We could talk things out, and I’m sure I can make you feel better I’ll be waiting for your feedback.
1 rolled my eyes, tossing my phone on the bed and taking my attention back to what I was doing. As I had expected, I’ve gotten a series of emails from the company.
I replied to the ones who were waiting for my reply, accepted the appointments, and ignored the less important ones.
Just when I was about to put my tablet away after I switched it off, a loud bang came on my door, and I rose to my feet.
“Alpha there is a problem.” I opened the door right away when I heard Claudia’s terrified voice, only to be welcomed by her sweaty face as she looked at me with fear written all over her. She was fidgeting as if she’d seen something she shouldn’t have ever seen.
“Alpha” her breath was shaky as she pointed toward Lyra’s room. I didn’t wait for another second before rushing off to the master’s bedroom where Lyra was. I froze on the spot, and my jaw dropped to the ground when I walked inside and found Lyra lying on the floor with her eyes closed. The noodles I made for her were littering the floor, It must’ve poured away.
“Lyra” I shricked, going to squat beside her, picking her up in a bridal style.
“Get the car kryd” I said to Claudia as I hurried out of the room and headed downstairs
Claudia got to the parking lot the same time as myself, and she handed the car keys to me before hopping in the backseat with Lyra after I laid her
there.
“What happened to her?” I asked worriedly as I drove out of the compound
“I have no idea. Alpha. I went back to clear the table an hour after I served her food, and 1 found her lying on the floor.”
Fear gripped me as I glanced back at Lyra. Has she passed out since an hour ago just the thought of that made my heart miss a beat as my hands shook on the steering wheel.
I drove recklessly to the hospital, arriving earlier than usual as I blew the siren to get the nurses attention that there was an emergency, and as soon as I got Lyra out of the car, the nurses came rushing out of the hospital with a stretcher.
“You need to wait here, please” The doctor stopped me from going into the emergency room with them.
My heart pounded hard in my chest like it was going to explode. My legs were so weak that they could barely carry my trembling body as I waited impatiently for the doctor to come outside and tell me how she was doing
Every passing seconds felt like torture as I waited for the doctor.
About thirty minutes passed before the door opened, and I rushed to the doctor along with Claudia.
“Doctor, low it my wife Is she alright is she awake! I have never been so scared in my entire life like I was at that moment that I stared at the doctor. My heart had stopped beating and my blood had stopped flowing. As much as I was curious and desperate to know the health status of Lyra, a part of me was scared of hearing about it. Secing the gloomy expression on the doctor’s face gave me chills. Did something bad happen to
her and our laday!
“Both the mother and the baby are out of danger now…”
It felt like a heavy weight was lifted off my heart the moment the doctor said that as I heared a sigh of relief, excited that nothing happened to her.
“She ate something she is allergic to, and hand you wasted another five minutes before getting to the hospital, we wouldn’t have been able to revive

her.” The doctor added, and I clenched my jaw tightly. We were together for three years before we separated six months ago, and got back together now. How could I know the allergy of the woman I spent three years with as my wife! How could I have neglected the little yet important things that could pose a threat to her life and health! I would never have been able to forgive myself for the rest of my life had anything happened to Lyra and our baby.
“Until she gives birth, she needs to get enough rest so she won’t miscarry the baby or have a stillbirth later. The food threatened the life of the baby. The doctor said, and I nodded
“Thank you, doc. I will make sure of that. Can I go and see her now!” I was eager to go see her, but was disappointed when the doctor told me that it wasn’t yet time to see her as she was still resting
After the doctor left. Claudia came to me. “Alpha, I think you should sit and get some rest. You’ve been standing for almost an hour now,
I looked at her and scoffed. Do I really deserve to sit when Lyra was fighting for her life? I didn’t think I deserve rest.

fine. Don’t worry al
worry about me.” I replied to her, and she slowly nodded.
“What was she allergic to that I added to her food?”
I asked myself, but I couldn’t figure out what it was..
Even as the doctor told me not to go inside, I couldn’t wait any longer, so I went inside. My heart wrenched painfully when I walked inside and found her lying helplessly on the bed with her eyes closed. She had an IV infusion on her arm.
I pulled out a chair and sat beside the bed, carefully holding her hand as I muttered I’m sorry!
Another hour passed before Lyra finally opened her eyes, and the first question she asked was “Where am I?”
“Lyra? Are you awake?” I asked the ridiculous question as it was the first thing that came to my mind. I quickly rang the small bell on the wall above her head, calling the doctor’s attention, and it only took less than two minutes before the door opened and the doctor walked inside along with a female nurse.
He came to examine her for a few minutes, then gave her two injections, one on each arm.
He collected a fetal doppler from one of the nurses and used it to check the baby’s heartbeat. He then turned to me after he was done, smiling.
“The baby’s heartbeat is normal now. She just needs to get some rest and she’ll be fine.” He told me, and I felt relieved.
After the doctor left, Lyra yanked my hand off and asked as she stared at me, her eyes filled with rage. “How come you didn’t know the woman you married for three years is allergic to shrimp?” She asked disappointedly, and I raised my eyebrows.
“Shrimps? I didn’t add my voice trailed off as the realisation dawned on me that I had used the oil to make noodles for her. Fuck! How could I not have known something so important?
