Chapter 3
I knocked it out of her hands without hesitation.
The soup splashed across the floor, some of it landing on her.
She yelped in pain, her hands recoiling.
“Ah! It’s hot!”
Ryan instinctively grabbed her wrist, concern flashing in his eyes.
“It’s gonna blister. We need to get this treated.”
“Come on, let’s go to the nurse’s station.”
Olivia pulled her hand away.
“No, Ryan… stay here with Mia.”
“She needs you more than I do. I’ll handle it myself.”
I rolled my eyes at their little act.
My patience snapped.
“Enough with the fake sympathy, Olivia.”
“I don’t need it. Get out. Both of you, just get the hell out.”
Ryan’s voice shot up, louder than mine.
“Lillian! Don’t go too far! Olivia didn’t do anything to deserve this!”
A sharp pain stabbed through my chest.
I sucked in a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
“She didn’t do anything wrong. Neither did you.”
“The only mistake here was me–being with you, taking Olivia’s heart, thinking you ever loved me for me.”
I met his eyes, unwavering.

“Ryan, I’m done being her replacement,”
The moment the words left my mouth, my chest tightened painfully,
1 clutched at my heart, my breath hitching.
Ryan’s face twisted in alarm.
“Mia, what’s wrong? Is it your heart? I’m calling a doctor!”
I shoved him away.
“Even if I die, it has nothing to do with you anymore.”
Ryan’s voice was desperate,
“Mia, you’re not a replacement. You’re the woman I love.”
His lies were almost laughable,
I pushed him away again, my voice cold.
“Cut the act. I know everything. Just drop it.”
Ryan’s gaze flickered toward Olivia, suspicion creeping into his eyes.
She immediately shook her head.
“I never said anything, Ryan. I swear.”
Watching them turn on each other was mildly entertaining, but I was too tired for their drama.
“Both of you, get out.”
Ryan refused to leave.
And just then, Daniel walked in, holding a bag of breakfast.
The second he saw Ryan, he dropped the bag on the table, grabbed Ryan by the collar, and threw a punch straight at his face.
Ryan stumbled back, stunned for a moment before he found his voice.
“What the hell is your problem?!”
Daniel’s answer was firm.

“You’re a piece of shit. You deserved that.”
Without hesitation, he landed another punch–harder this time.
Olivia rushed to intervene, but Daniel shoved her aside effortlessly.
She let out a small cry as she hit the ground.
Ryan broke free and ran to her, panic in his voice.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
She bit her lip and shook her head, looking heartbreakingly fragile.
Daniel sneered.
“You fake–ass bitch.”
“Playing innocent while ruining someone else’s relationship? You’re lucky I don’t beat the hell out of you too.”
I won’t lie–that felt good to hear.
But Ryan snapped.
His eyes burned with fury as he pointed at Daniel.
“Who the hell are you to insult Olivia?!”
“You’re just as filthy as you claim we are!”
“What kind of ‘friend‘ buys breakfast this early?”
“You spent the night here, didn’t you?”
“Maybe that kid isn’t even mine–maybe it’s yours!”
His eyes darted to me, accusation laced in his gaze.
That was the last straw.
Ignoring the weakness in my body, I forced myself out of bed and slapped him across the face.
“How dare you doubt me? You’re the dirty one, not me.”
“Since you’re so suspicious, we can do a DNA test after the abortion.”

Ryan’s expression crumbled.
His hands gripped my shoulders as his eyes fell to my stomach.
“Wait… what did you say? The baby… it’s still there?”
I shoved him off me.
“Yeah. But not for long.”
Right on cue, a nurse pushed the door open.
“Patient in bed 9, it’s time for surgery.”
A bitter ache tightened in my chest.
I had to force the words out.
“Okay.”
