Chapter 9
Holding back my emotions, I showed my prosthetic leg to my mom, hoping to comfort her. However, she suddenly broke down and burst into tears.
“Debbie, Jimmy is really a heartless man. You lost a leg saving him and he still dared to marry someone else!” my father said.
When my father noticed my confusion, he clenched his jaw and explained, “We saw his wedding online, apparently it cost millions. We thought he was marrying you.”
Seeing their anger, I couldn’t help but laugh, wrapped my arms around my mom and playfully leaned into her.
“What’s there to be upset about? I should

Seeing the calmness in my face, my mother could not help but cry again. Her eyes were full of grievance as her hand touched my head.
At that moment, I was genuinely grateful because I had been spared a life of misery and I could see the truth in time.
After a few cozy days at home, I started getting restless. When I mentioned wanting to work, my dad arranged a position for me at his company. It was a junior role, but I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.

“I trust you,” I said.
I had always hidden my sear because I was afraid of seeing pity in others‘ eyes. However today, I realized not everyone would react that way, some people could see me for who I

Taking a deep breath, I hooked my arm around his and pushed open the dressing room door. Just as he promised, as we walked in together, people were shocked, but not because of my leg. Their expressions held

Toward the end of the ceremony, the bride tossed her bouquet and it landed perfectly in Jordan’s hands. Amid the cheers and laughter, he blushed as he walked toward me. He handed the bouquet to me.
“Debbie, I was drawn to you from the moment I saw you. I know about your leg, but it doesn’t matter to me. To me, you‘ re perfect,” Jordan said. “Would I be lucky enough to be your boyfriend?”
Overwhelmed by happiness, I was about to respond when a strong force suddenly pulled me backward. Unsteady, I stumbled into an all–too–familiar embrace.
