Chapter 37
“N–no, don’t send it to him,” Zabelle spoke, but from the grin on Alicia’s face, it was obvious the woman wasn’t going to listen to her.
She turned to face Antonio when he finally stepped back and allowed her to stand on her feet.
The thought of killing him sounded very promising to her, but sadly she couldn’t do such.
“You two have a wonderful day picking out wedding dresses, Antonio wished as he patted her on the head before walking past her.
Zabelle watched him walk away, but that did nothing to reduce the embarrassment she was feeling.
Antonio had kissed her and, worse still, she had responded to the kiss and allowed him to do what he wanted with her.
She felt disgusted by what he did without her consent, but she felt even more disgusted with herself for even putting herself in such a position.
“Zabelle dear, have you had breakfast?” She heard Alicia ask her and this broke her out of her thoughts and she walked down to meet the woman.
“No, I haven’t,” she responded.
“Come, let’s have breakfast together,” Alicia said, and the two women headed to the dining table.
“Dad, you have to do something about Zabelle and Antonio!” Vanessa cried as she barged into his office.
Gabriel lifted his head to look at his daughter, and a frown immediately appeared on his face after hearing Zabelle’s name.
The last conversation he had with Antonio still rang in his head, and it left a bitter taste in his mouth.
He couldn’t believe she had gone running to Antonio about the email and that bastard had the guts to call him to threaten him. He wouldn’t take it lying down, he promised himself. He had been planning his revenge but it seemed it was going to happen sooner than expected.
“What did she do?” He asked Vanessa.
“I went to see Jeremy yesterday, and he was beaten up. When I asked him what had happened, he told me that it was Antonio and Zabelle responsible,” Vanessa informed her father, who immediately rose from his seat.
“What?!” He sneered in anger.
“Yes Dad,” Vanessa nodded. “Zabelle has taken a turn for the worse after meeting Antonio and if we don’t stop the wedding. she’ll be able to get away with what she wants and no one will be able to stop her, dad.”
Her words struck a nerve in Gabriel’s ear, and his eyes darkened I won’t let that happen!” He resolved sharply as he picked up his phone to make a call.
That was all Vanessa needed to hear as she turned her heel and left her father’s office.
If Zabelle thought that by marrying Antonio, she would gain power over them, she had another thing coming. He had allowed her too much freedom, which was why she was going against him, not anymore.

“You don’t like this design as well?” Alicia frowned in disapproval as she shook her head at the designer.
Zabelle opened her mouth to speak, but she decided not to, as Alicia was in a world of her own.

All she had done was scratch her back as the gown was itchy and Alicia had instantly known she hated the dress. If only her mother could be like her, she sighed.
“You’re the best designer when it comes to wedding dresses which is why I hired you, but my daughter–in–law isn’t liking any of your designs,” she shook her head.
“Ma’am, we have a new collection coming in two days. How about we take a look at some of them?” She offered and Alicia looked at Zabelle waiting for her approval.
When she nodded, Alicia in turn nodded at the designer, who heaved a sigh of relief at having been granted a second chance. She then quickly changed out of the wedding dress and back into her clothes.
“Well, well, well, look who we have here. Zabelle heard her mother’s voice and she froze. What was her mother doing here at a wedding store?
When she turned, she found Lily and her sister in front of her. If they were there, did that mean Jeremy had proposed to her? Were they getting married?
“Hello to you too, Mrs Pierce,” Alicia responded as she stepped forward.
Having heard of how the Pierce treated Zabelle and seeing the horrified expression on her face, she knew the mother and daughter were bad news.
Luckily, she couldn’t be intimidated, and maybe it was time for Zabelle to learn that as well.
“Do you really think such a reputed store is for someone like you? Lily didn’t waste any time in firing at Zabelle.
“Seeing as you’re here despite being such a miserable woman and mother, I’d say Zabelle’s presence here isn’t an issue!” Alicia didn’t waste any time in retorting
Zabelle turned to face her as she realized that while Antonio might have gotten his cruel and mysterious behavior from he father, he had definitely gotten his pettiness and shamelessness from his mother.
“I really feel sorry for you, you actually think your son has made the right decision by choosing to marry her. Ask her just how her last boyfriend left her,” Lily scoffed.
“Does it look like I care? All that matters is that she is happy with my son,” Alicia responded, and Zabelle smiled. Even though she wasn’t happy with Antonio, Alicia didn’t even care to know how her last relationship ended.
“Oh Lily, one day you all will regret how you treated your own flesh and blood, but by then it would have been too late for you,” she stated.
“Now if you’ll excuse me we have a wedding to prepare for and unlike you, we like to give our own the best treatment, Alicia shook her head with pity and Zabelle watched her mother turn red with anger.
“This is what…” Vanessa started, but her mother stopped her. “Come, let’s not stand around the filth anymore.” With that, the two women left the store.
“Good riddance,” Alicia hissed as she turned to face Zabelle. “You didn’t say anything.
“I’m used to their taunts and I find it best to keep quiet,” Zabelle sighed.
“If you don’t start standing up for yourself, then they’ll always taunt you,” Alicia told Zabelle, and it would be a le if Zabelle said she didn’t know that.

“Ma’am, are you ready? The designer inquired, reminding there of their current task, and Alicia nodded.
Just as the designer was about to lead them to another room, Alicia’s phone vibrated and she checked it.

When Zabelle noticed the instant frown on the woman’s face, she knew it wasn’t good news. “Could you please excuse us,” she requested as she moved closer to Alicia.
Once the designer was out, she asked, “What happened?”
“I got a text from my driver. Lily and Vanessa are causing trouble for him.”
“I’m so sorry, I’ll go and handle it,” Zabelle apologized as she turned to leave.
