Chapter 43
Antonio looked at the time, and he saw that it was already after seven. Zabelle had been asleep for over eight hours straight. During those hours, he checked on her every hour to make sure she was fine and hadn’t slipped into a state of
unconsciousness,
He was noting everything so Zabelle would pay him back when the time came. He got up from the sofa and grabbed his tablet. He couldn’t let Zabelle continue to sleep, as she needed to eat something and use her medication. Plus, his mother had asked to speak to her multiple times.
When he got to her room, he was met by Martha, who was supervising another helper who was cleaning. “Should I bring her dinner?” the head helper asked, and Antonio nodded before entering the room.
When he entered, he turned on the lights and as he did, Zabelle slowly opened her eyes and she looked at him as he approached the bed.
“How do you feel?” He asked as he placed the back of his palm against her forehead. She was still running a fever, but it had reduced.
“A bit better,” Zabelle responded.
“My mom has been calling to speak to you. Will you speak to her now, or after you’ve had dinner,” he asked her?
“I’ll speak to her now,” Zabelle answered as she tried to sit up. She was still, however, weak, and so she couldn’t do so. Antonio moved closer to the bed, and he helped her sit up.
His closeness reminded Zabelle of the kiss they had shared, and she cursed herself for even thinking of such, especially when she was sick, but it did nothing to stop her from remembering the feeling.
She didn’t realize she had been staring at Antonio until he turned to look at her with a questioning look on his face, and she, quickly shook her head.
He made her rest on the headrest, after which he called his mother and placed the tablet on her lap.
It was a video call, and she saw Alicia’s face pop up. “Oh dear, you look so pale. How are you feeling now?” She inquired worriedly, and Zabelle felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in her chest
“I feel better,” she smiled at Alicia.
“Did that son of mine take care of you?”
“Yes, he did, and he’s the reason I’m feeling better,” she told Alicia, and the woman hummed in satisfaction.
“I’m so sorry, you were taken on my watch yesterday,” Alicia then proceeded to apologize.
She wouldn’t have thought a humble socialite like Alicia existed, “It’s not your fault,” she stated just as there was a knock on the door, which distracted them.
it as he knew it was Martha who was there. It’s time for Zabele to have her dinner,” he told his Antonio went to open mother, and Zabelle’s expression fell as she liked talking to Alici
“Don’t worry, we’ll talk later, you should focus on getting better. Alicia told Zabelle who nodded and Antonio took the tablet.
Placing it aside, he returned his attention to Zabelle. “Can you eat yourself?” He questioned. Martha had brought some more soup and some fruit at the side, just what she needed to get better, he thought to himself.
“No,” Zabelle responded, and she opened her mouth expectantly

Antonio squinted his eyes at her. “Why are you so eager for me to feed you?” He asked as it looked like she was way too excited.
“I’m not. I can’t feed myself,” Zabelle pouted, and Antonio couldn’t help but notice how cute she looked. What was he even thinking? He scolded himself. Zabelle wasn’t cute but ugly and that was it.
“No, feed yourself,” he refused..
“Fine, I guess I’ll go to bed hungry.” Zabelle stated. There was no way she would miss out on Antonio feeding her for the
second time,
“Fine, starve,” Antonio said nonchalantly as he got up to him. However, when he got to the door, he turned to look at Zabelle who hadn’t taken her eyes off him.
“Ahh,” he groaned as he turned back and headed to the bed. “Once you’re better, I’m so going to make you pay,” he said as he started to feed her.
Zabelle nodded nonchalantly as though his words didn’t matter, and she opened her mouth.
Just like earlier, she couldn’t stomach more than half and Antonio didn’t force her to eat more. Just as he was about to start feeding her the fruit, there was a knock on the door and it sounded urgent.
Antonio got up and opened the door. It was Martha, and she had the telephone in her hand. “Hold on, I’ll be back soon,” he told Zabelle and he left the room.
“What’s going on?” He asked her.
“The guards stationed at the gate called, saying Gabriel and Lily Pierce are demanding entry to come and speak to you.” So the fools had finally put two and two together to figure out he was responsible for their daughter’s disappearance. “Allow them,” he informed Martha, and she relayed his message to the guards. “Stay with her and attend to her needs.” Antonio didn’t waste any time heading downstairs so he could receive his amazing in–laws.
“You, where’s my daughter?!” Gabriel immediately fired at Antonio the moment he laid his eyes on him.
“She’s safe in her room,” Antonio responded, as though Gabriel was asking for Zabelle.
“You know very well I’m not asking after Zabelle,” Gabriel hissed
“Really? Why would I know where the whereabouts of your other daughter is?” He tilted his head at Gabriel.
There was no way the asshole would answer the question without implicating himself, and he was curious to see if Gabriel would be able to do otherwise.
*Because you took her,” Lily was the one who spoke, “I saw Zabelle getting taken yesterday, and you must have thought we had something to do with it, which is why you retaliated by taking Vanessa.”
“So your first daughter was taken, and you didn’t bother to search for her or inform the police, but you came all the way down here because of your second daughter, how wonderful,” he remarked sarcastically.
How was Zabelle able to put up with these people for eighteen years? He wondered as if he had been in her place, they would have been long dead.
“I don’t care about that…” Cabriel was unable to complete his statement as Antonio suddenly grabbed him by the throat and his eyes darkened.
“I already wared

All Zabelle had to do was give him the go–ahead, and he wouldn’t hesitate to finish them off, but that annoying woman of his was still trying to convince herself that they were good.
“Let go of him!” Lily demanded as she tried to pry Antonio’s hand off Gabriel’s neck.
“Antonio?” He heard Zabelle’s voice from behind him, and that was effective in getting him off Gabriel.
When he turned, he found her staring at him with a confused look. “What are you two doing here?” Zabelle asked.
