Chapter 44
“Where’s Antonio?” Zabelle asked when Martha walked into the room.
“He had something urgent to take care of downstairs,” the helper responded, and she frowned. What urgent thing had popped up? Zabelle wondered.
“It’s time for your medication.” Martha told her, and she sat quietly as she brought it out and handed it to her. She immediately used it and her eyes fell on the door as she was expecting Antonio to return. What had happened?
Wanting to see for herself, she pushed the duvet aside and proceeded to get up. Something didn’t feel right for some reason, and she wanted to see what it was.
“Ma’am, you should be resting.” Martha remarked in horror. Her boss would have her head if she allowed Zabelle to come downstairs in her condition, but she didn’t look like she was ready to listen.
“I’ll be fine, please help me walk,” she requested from the helper who debated whether or not to help. “Either way, I’m going to see him.” she added.
Martha sighed and gave a helping hand to Zabelle and they both made their way out of the room. It took longer to get down the stairs as she wasn’t strong enough and when they got down, her shock knew no bounds when she found Antonio choking her father.
“Antonio?” she called, and he let go so he could turn to face her. She let go of Martha and came to stand beside Antonio, and as soon as she was beside him, he grabbed her by the waist so he could stabilize her.
-What are you two doing here?” Zabelle asked her parents. It was never a good thing whenever they came searching for her, and she wondered what trouble they had caused to get Antonio so mad.
“Your husband over here has taken my daughter and that’s why we are here,” Gabriel answered. They had indeed been right, Antonio had saved Zabelle and had in turn kidnapped their daughter.
Zabelle turned to face Antonio, who had a stoic expression on his face, and she turned to look at her parents. “I don’t appreciate you coming over here and accusing my fiancé of something he didn’t do.”
A slight smile appeared on Antonio’s face over her defending him. He had told her countless times that he was no angel and yet, she still believed he was innocent. At least if he ever got busted for any of his crimes, she would defend him
“He did it and I’m sure!” Lily flared up in anger. “He must have done it because he thought we were responsible for your disappearance.
“And once again, I don’t appreciate you accusing Antonio,” Zabelle repeated. “If your daughter is missing, go to the police or something and not here!”
“Has this man blinded you so much that you can’t see he’s behind Vanessa’s disappearance?” Lily hissed in anger.
“Why don’t you do me a favour and search for who is responsible for my disappearance,” Zabelle retorted in anger.
“They are the ones,” Antonio chimed in.
“Don’t tell me you believe him?” Lily asked her daughter.
“Between him and you, what a tough choice,” Zabelle rolled her eyes sarcastically: “Why are you still allowing them in here?” the turned her attention back to Autoniu
-Well, they are your parents, it’d be rude to throw them out,” he told her.
“You have my permission to throw them out. Are you going
it yourself or will you get the guards?” Zabelle asked

Chapter 44
Antonio and the slight smile widened while her parents‘ mouth fell open over her words.

Seeing them standing there and accusing Antonio evoked something in her, and she wasn’t going to stand there and allow it
anymore.
Antonio turned to look at Gabriel and Lily with his eyebrows raised as he was asking them if they were going to leave by their selves or let him throw them out.
“Give me my daughter back, or 1 swear, I’ll make you regret it!” Gabriel threatened, and his eyes fell on Zabelle. Scoffing at her, he and his wife turned to leave, as they couldn’t fight where wasn’t their territory.
“Why did you take Vanessa? Zabelle immediately asked Antonio as soon as the door to the mansion closed.
Antonio bent and lifted her so he could carry her back to her room as she was supposed to be resting.
“Why are you asking me? Weren’t you defending me a few minutes ago?” He pointed out as he began to ascend the stairs.
“I know and haven’t forgotten the fact that you’re not an angel but a devil, so I know you took Vanessa,” Zabelle responded. “I‘ wasn’t about to take their side in front of them.”
“So you’d take my side even if you knew I committed a crime?” Antonio looked at her.
“You’d do the same,” Zabelle stated, and he nodded as if that was true. He’d always take her side in public, as opposing her was not only disrespectful to her, but to him as well.
“You’re losing weight,” he remarked just as they got inside her room. She didn’t weigh much initially, and it was troubling to see that she was even losing more.
“I like it that way, they’ll make fun of me if I’m fat, Zabelle stated
“Who?” Antonio probed.
“Vanessa and my mom,” Zabelle responded, and Antonio flicked her forehead after he placed her on the bed.
“Why?! Zabelle simply asked.
“You’re as light as a feather already, losing more weight isn’t going to do you any good,” he told her as he made a mental note to ask the doctor to prescribe something so she would eat more
“You’re deflecting, why did you take Vanessa?” Zabelle returned the conversation to the matter at hand.
“For the same reason your mom mentioned,” Antonio finally told her, and her eyes widened in horror.
“They were the ones responsible for my kidnapping?” She asked and Antonio nodded. “Why would they do that?” “Hasn’t it been established that they hate you and don’t like to see you happy?” He tilted his head.
Zabelle couldn’t even deny that, as everything her parents had ever done to her proved what Antonio had said.
