And I’m the one who filed the divorce lawsuit for you. So, buckle up,” Simon said with a smirk

When Kayla got home, she wasn’t surprised to see Lionel waiting. It was almost three in the morning and there

he was, slouched on the couch like old times

Back then, he would stay up late, waiting for her after work. It used to mean something. Now? It just felt like a sad

attempt to cling to the past

The sound of the door woke him. He sat up quickly, rubbing his eyes and gave her a tired smile. Kayla, you’re back. Are you hungry? I can make something for youmaybe some cereal?he asked, trying to sound warm and

caring

Years ago, that offer might’ve made her chest ache with gratitude. But now, it only made her tired eyes narrow. No,she replied, her voice flat

She dropped her bag on the counter and turned to face him. His concern felt so fake, so rehearsed. She had rather deal with outright hate than this halfhearted charade of love

Without another word, she reached into her bag and pulled out a stack of papers. Her expression didn’t change as she held it out to him

This is the divorce agreement, she said bluntly. Sign it.”

Lionel blinked at the papers, his confusion quickly turning into anger as he flipped through them. His jaw tightened when he saw the clause about leaving the house

Wait, you’re throwing me out? Kayla, come on. We’ve been married for years! I’ve put in effort, even if it doesn’t show. You can’t just cut me out like this!”

Kayla rolled her eyes, her patience wearing thin. She grabbed the contract from him and slapped it against his chest hard enough to make him flinch

Do not push me, Lionel. Sign it or don’t Either way I’m moving on. You’ve got no one to blame but yourself! Her

tone was icy, her resolve unshakable

Lionel stared at her, stunned. He could see there was no budging her on this. And yet, deep down, he knew he wouldn’t sign, not willingly

Well, then wait for the lawsuit,Kayla said, her voice devoid of any emotion

It was surreal, standing here with Lionel, at the point she never imagined they’d reach. There had been a time when she believed in their future, when she thought he was her forever

Lionel stared at her, his jaw tightening. Are you in love with that man?” he blurted, his voice tinged with bitterness

Kayla blinked, stunned by his audacity. Then, she laughed, sharp, humorless. What are you even talking about? Me? In love with someone else?”

Her tone turned icy. You’re the one who cheated on me, Lionel. So don’t you dare try to twist this around. If you think I’ve cheated, fine, go ahead and sue me. But just so we’re clear, I have proof of your affair.”

The air between them turned tense. Lionel didn’t say anything at first and for a moment, Kayla thought he might finally back down. But then he looked up at her, his expression shifting

I’ll leave,he said suddenly, his voice low. I’ll walk away with nothing. Not a penny. Justgive us one more chance. Let’s start over.”

Kayla stared at him, stunned. For a brief second, she wondered if he was serious

But the absurdity of it hit her almost immediately. ‘Is this supposed to be some grand romantic gesture? Does he really think I’ll trust him again after everything he’d done?‘

No,she said flatly, her tone cold as steel. And you’re not getting anything from me. Not the house, not the money, not another second of my time

man

Her words landed like a hammer and Lionel’s face fell. But she didn’t care. She had spent enough tears on this

Meanwhile, Stephanie had been playing the victim card ever since Kayla had thrown her out of the party. She hadn’t left her room, likely hoping her little act of misery would tug at Lionel’s heartstrings. But Kayla knew better

Stephanie’s pitiful facade was just another calculated move, like those fake videos she had orchestrated. Kayla wasn’t letting it slide. She had already sued the person who posted the video and demanded a hefty compensation300 thousand dollars, to be exact

The truth would come out soon enough and when it did, they would all pay the price for their lies

The next morning, Kayla arrived at her office, ready to dive into her work. But before she could even settle in, her assistant burst in, looking flustered

Ms. Sutton, the assistant began, her voice hurried. There’s a man at the front desk yelling to see you. He’s making a scene, I’m afraid he will attract reporters.”

Kayla frowned, her patience already thinning. Did he say what he wants?”

The assistant hesitated, clearly uncomfortable. I heard it’s the man who leaked the video”

Kayla’s eyes narrowed. She had expected this. Of course, he would come crawling once he realized the mess he was in

It’s fine, she said calmly. I am ready for this.”

As if on cue, Simon arrived, his presence steady and reassuring. She glanced at him and nodded. It was time to face this headon

The moment Kayla sent that lawyer’s letter, she had known this might happen

Her assistant shifted uncomfortably, glancing at her. Ma’am, should I just call security? He’s making a scene

downstairs. No telling what he might do

Kayla shook her head, her voice steady but firm. No, let him up. Put him in the reception room.”

The assistant hesitated before nodding. Alright. I’ll take care of it.”

Ten minutes later, Kayla walked into the reception room

The man was sprawled across the couch like he owned the place

He had emptied the fruit platter, leaving a mess of peels and wrappers on the coffee table. A toothpick dangled from his lips as he looked up and grinned at her like he had won some kind of prize

Kayla’s stomach turned, but she kept her face neutral

Ah, so you’re the one who sent me that fancy lawyer’s letter,he said, pointing a finger at her Gotta say, you look just like the woman in my video. Nice touch.”

Kayla didn’t rise to the bait. She crossed her arms, her tone clipped. What do you want?”

He leaned back, smug. What do you think? I’m here for money.”

Kayla’s lips twitched into a cold smile Money? Why would I give you money? You’ve seen the lawyer’s letter. You should be the one compensating me.”
