Chapter 42
“Thank you.” Zabelle said, and Antonio paused to look at her.
“For what?” He asked in confusion.
“You’re taking care of me. I can’t remember the last time that happened,” she explained.
“Don’t get used to it. I’m not nice,” Antonio warned her, and he heard her chuckle. He didn’t want her carrying the notion that he was nice, as he liked being the bad guy. He thrived on people knowing he was cruel,
“Yes, I know, you’re not nice,” Zabelle stated. “I can’t take any more of it, she then told him. He had made sure she drank more than half of the soup. If she stomached anymore, she would puke.
Antonio looked down, and he was satisfied with what he saw. Placing the tray aside, he brought out her pills and she used them quickly as she wanted to go back to sleep.
Thankfully, after he was done, he made her lie on the bed, and he pulled the duvet over her. “Thank you, Antonio,” she said once again and she meant it.
“You’re welcome,” he finally said. “Now, go to bed,” he told her, and she didn’t need to be told twice as she closed her eyes, Antonio looked at her for a few seconds before turning and leaving the room.
When he got back to his room, he saw he had received calls from his mother. He had been in a rush to check if Zabelle was okay that he had forgotten his phone. Without wasting time, he called Alicia.
“Antonio, is Zabelle okay,” she asked as soon as she answered the call. “I would have come there, but there were some things for the wedding that needed to be handled.” she explained.
“No, she has a fever,” Antonio informed his mother, and he heard her hiss over the phone. “I’ve already given her a warm compress, and she has used her medication,” he added before Alicia could ask him.
That’s good, I’ll come around in the evening to see her,” she said
“No, you have been busy with the wedding preparation, go home and rest,” he told his mother. As much as he knew his mother liked to plan parties, he also knew how much of a toll it took on her, and it was best she went home.
“We’ll hop on a video call tonight so you can speak to her,” he told his mother when he heard her complain.
“Oh alright, don’t you dare forget, or I’ll come there,” Alicia threatened her son before disconnecting the call.
Well, there went his plan of going to the office. It wasn’t as though he wanted to stay back, it was just that Alicia would have his head on a silver platter if she knew he went to work while Zabelle was sick.
‘Zabelle Pierce,’ he sighed heavily. This was the umpteenth time he was making him miss work.
At least he would be able to get the rest he had stayed back for. Too bad he wouldn’t be able to sleep though, he thought to
himself.
“Gabriel, haven’t you found her yet?” Lily asked worriedly as she barged into his study. It was already evening, which meant her daughter had been missing for twenty–four hours. There was still no sign of Vanessa, even after their men had been sent to look for her.
“No,” he ran his fingers through his hair roughly. He had asked men to investigate her disappearance and no one seemed to have any answer.

“Where’s Jeremy when you need him?!” She hissed in annoyance as he hadn’t been helpful when it came to finding Vanessa.
“I spoke with him a few minutes ago, and he has nothing as well Gabriel informed his wife, who frowned as her mind got to
work.
“Wait, has Antonio said anything about Zabelle’s disappearance” she asked.
“No, he hasn’t,” Gabriel answered.
“Something is wrong, we were with Zabelle a few minutes before the men took her. There’s no way he wouldn’t have suspected us…”
“And if he suspected us, he was supposed to have come here or at least called,” Gabriel completed his wife’s line of thought.
“Gabriel, ask one of our men to confirm if Zabelle is still in our captivity,” Lily urged him and Gabriel nodded as he picked his phone to do as she had asked him to do. He hadn’t bothered to check up on Zabelle after it was confirmed that they had captured her, as he wanted her to rot in there for some time before deciding what to do with her.
When he gave the order, they had no other choice than to wait for the men to give their feedback. After what felt like forever, his man called, and it wasn’t anything useful as he was informed that none of the men were answering their phones and that they had to go down to check on them personall
Having nothing else to do, they waited patiently for the man to call back. After about an hour, he finally did, and Gabriel quickly answered the call. “Put it on speaker, Lily urged him, and he did so.
“Sir, no one is there, and I’m seeing some dried–up blood,” the guard
frown appeared on his face as he pondered on what he had just formed them. Gabriel disconnected the call, and a
heard.
“Gabriel, I’m sure Antonio had something to do with Vanessa’s disappearance,” Lily stated.
It wasn’t a coincidence that her daughter went missing at the same time they had kidnapped Zabelle.
This must have been Antonio’s way of getting back at them. Why didn’t she think of this sooner?
“Get dressed, we are going to pay a visit to Antonio,” Gabriel told his wife, and she rushed out of his study. If that bastard was really responsible for kidnapping his daughter, then it was war.
