Chapter 93
Vanessa reclined on her plush sofa, with a glass of wine in her hand and a smug smile on her lips as she scrolled through her phone.
Headlines and social media posts about Antonio’s supposed infidelity flooded her feed.
Each comment dragging his name felt like a small victory to her and a massive loss to Zabelle.
She was the one behind the video leaking, but she had blocked her face and anything that could be used to identify her as she wasn’t ready to be dragged alongside Antonio.
“He definitely deserves it,” she muttered under her breath as she kept on reading the hateful comments not only to Antonio but to Zabelle as well.
For months, she had watched Zabelle’s life improve while her own remained stagnant. Jeremy was a fool, and she wondered what Zabelle had seen in him.
Antonio, the perfect knight in shining armor, had been lavishing attention and care on her sister. It made Vanessa sick. The way he always defended Zabelle up to the point of kidnapping her just made her anger increase.
This scandal, this public humiliation, was exactly the kind of payback she had hoped for.
While she was gloating over the misfortune of the couple, a new notification buzzed on her phone.
She clicked it absentmindedly, but her eyes widened as she saw Zabelle’s name trending.
‘Zabelle defends Antonio against baseless accusations” It was what the post read.
Her smug grin vanished as she tapped the link, her heart pounding as she didn’t like what was happening. Zabelle’s post was clear, heartfelt, and powerful. The words felt like a dagger in Vanessa’s chest and a foil to her plans…
“The recent rumors about Antonio are not only false but deeply hurtful, just as the other false things about our marriage. He has always been a man of integrity, and I will not stand by while his name is unjustly tarnished. I hope those spreading these lies will reflect on the damage they’re causing because when I decide to take action, I won’t listen to their pleading.”
Shit! The write–up was actually good, she admitted, and the comments below the post were agreed as well
“Wow, Zabelle is so classy. She came out to defend Antonio, and she didn’t even do the same when everyone thought she was dead.”
“This actually makes me believe, Antonio. What a queen!”
“If she’s standing by him, maybe we’ve all got it wrong. After all, António hadn’t been caught with any woman before his marriage.
These were some of the comments, and Vanessa’s fingers tightened around her phone as she could see her plan going downhill
No. No, no, no!” she hissed, slamming her glass down.
The tables were turning, and fast. The story was no longer about Antonio’s supposed scandal, but it was about Zabelle’s loyalty and character.
The fact that Zabelle hadn’t put herself out there even after her relationship with Antonio became public left netizens assuming she was a quiet person, and that assumption was giving her a free pass.

She got up from the sofa with her fists clenched and her mind racing. How had Zabelle managed 10 spin this in her favor?
Vanessa had expected her sister to crumble under the weight of the rumors, just the way she usually crumbled, not rise like some righteous phoenix.
Why was Zabelle even defending Antonio when she had caught them kissing the previous night? Had Antonio managed to convince Zabelle that he didn’t mean to?
Her phone buzzed again, and she hissed in annoyance as it was still on the same matter of Zabelle issuing a statement.
“Now wonder Antonio kept Zabelle and their relationship hidden for so long. She’s too pure,” she read a post.
Vanessa’s jaw clenched, her nails digging into her palm. Pure? Why were they painting Zabelle as some kind of saint when she was nothing but a loser?
Her satisfaction was now a bitter memory, replaced by a thirst for revenge once again.
Zabelle had managed to come out on top once again, yet again, and Vanessa was left fuming as this was happening because Antonio came into Zabelle’s life.
