Chapter 163
The black SUV came to a stop in front of the police station, its tires screeching slightly against the pavement.
The area was still in chaos as there were still flashing cameras, shouting reporters, and curious onlookers swarming around in anticipation of the latest scandal involving the Garcia family.
It was after all the first time the family had been in such a huge scandal, and everyone wanted to see how everything would play out.
Zabelle barely waited for the car to come to a full stop before throwing the door open and stepping out.
Her eyes were focused on the police station doors, her heart pounding with dread.
Before she could take another step, a figure moved toward her.
At first, she thought it was the homeless mind who had somehow followed her there but when she saw a familiar figure, she calmed down.
“Zabelle, what are you doing here?”
She looked up and met Alejandro’s sharp gaze.
His usually composed features were strained, his dark eyes shadowed with exhaustion.
He looked like he had been through hell, probably trying to handle the legal chaos unfolding around Antonio.
His tie was loosened, the top buttons of his dress shirt undone, and his phone was clenched tightly in his hand.
If he was like this, she didn’t want to imagine the state Antonio was in, and her heart clenched at the thought of it.
“I came to see Antonio,” she stated firmly, trying to move past him.
Alejandro stepped in her path. “That’s a bad idea.”
“I don’t care.” Zabelle narrowed her eyes. Why was everyone so against her seeing her husband? It was becoming very annoying.
Alejandro exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “Zabelle, you know he wouldn’t want you here. This is a mess–one that you don’t need to get involved in.”
She clenched her jaw and she took a deep breath to calm herself down. “I am already involved. He is my husband. I’m not leaving without seeing him.”
Her name was already in the mud and so there was no point in trying to keep her away from Antonio. Everyone needed to know she was with her husband in all of this.
Alejandro studied her for a long moment, and he sighed when he saw the fierce determination in her eyes and her unwavering resolve.
She wasn’t going anywhere, and he didn’t see the point in trying to keep her away from her husband.
With a sigh, he stepped aside. “Fine. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“I’ll be fine.”
Zabelle didn’t wait for further discussion, and she immediately walked past him, her heart racing as she made her way towards the building.
The moment she stepped in view, chaos erupted.
Flashes from cameras nearly blinded her as reporters shoved forward, microphones extended.
“Zabelle Garcia! Do you have a statement?”
“Is it true Antonio has been involved in human trafficking?”
Are you standing by your husband despite the allegations?”
Zabelle gritted her teeth, her stomach twisting in anger. The accusations were absurd, yet the media was already treating Antonio as guilty.

Chapter 163
However, she didn’t say anything as they weren’t worth her time.
Elias, her guard, immediately stepped in, blocking the reporters from getting too close.
His presence created just enough space for her to maneuver through the sea of flashing lights and intrusive questions.
Ignoring the noise, she pushed forward until she reached the entrance.
As soon as she was in, she heaved a sigh of relief, and she made her way to the front desk, where a stern–looking officer stood.
“I want to see Antonio Garcia,” she said, barely keeping her voice steady.
The officer hesitated but eventually nodded and he made a call. After a few minutes, another officer approached her and signaled for her to follow.
Zabelle walked through the station, her shoes clicking against the tiled floor. The cold fluorescent lighting did little to ease the icy dread pooling in her stomach.
She was finally led into a small, dimly lit room. A table stood in the center, and on the other side, sitting with his hands resting on the metal surface, was Antonio.
Antonio’s gaze lifted the moment she stepped in, and his expression darkened instantly.
“What the hell are you doing here?” His voice was sharp, his brows furrowing in disapproval.
Zabelle didn’t answer. The sight of him in this oppressive room was too much to bear.
Without hesitation, she crossed the distance between them and threw her arms around him.
Tears spilled down her cheeks as she clung to him, her fingers tightening around his shirt. “I wasn’t going to stay back at home. I needed to see you.”
For a moment, Antonio didn’t move. His muscles were tense beneath her touch, his body rigid. Then, with a quiet sigh, his arms slowly came up to hold her.
Fuck, he missed her terribly, and he couldn’t deny that he wanted to see her.
“This is not where you’re supposed to be, Zabelle,” he muttered, his voice softer this time.
She pulled back just enough to look at him. “What the hell is going on, Antonio? Why are they saying all these things about you?”
His jaw tightened. “It’s a setup.”
Zabelle had expected that answer, but hearing it still sent a fresh wave of anger through her.
“I know,” she whispered. “But why? Who’s doing this?” She had been in his world long enough to know that it was someone framing him.
Antonio exhaled, running a hand down his face. “The police claim someone they arrested mentioned my name. That’s all I know for now.”
Zabelle’s grip on his arms tightened. “This is insane! Can’t they see this is a lie?”
Antonio let out a bitter chuckle. “Since when has the truth ever mattered when the media gets involved?”
Zabelle swallowed hard. “What do we do now?”
Before Antonio could answer, the door opened, and an officer stepped in.
“Time’s up.”
Zabelle turned sharply. “No, please, just a little longer…”
The officer shook his head. “Visiting time is over.”
“We were barely in here for…” Zabelle started, but Antonio held her, and he shook his head, silently asking her not to speak.
Zabelle looked back at Antonio, her heart sinking. He met her gaze, his expression unreadable, but she saw the silent message in his eyes.
Reluctantly, she stepped away, her fingers lingering on his hand before she forced herself to turn around.
“Zabelle.” he called just as she was at the door, and she turned to face him.
“Don’t starve yourself, or I won’t be happy,” he told her, and she smiled sadly before walking out, her mind a blur of emotions.

When she got out, Alejandro was still there, leaning against his car with his arms crossed. The moment she stepped out, he straightened. “How was
it?”
Zabelle took a deep breath, her chest tightening. “Not enough.” She had barely gotten time to talk to him before she was forced to leave, and it was beyond frustrating.
“It never is.” Alejandro exhaled.
“What’s happening with the case?” She turned to him, her expression curious.
“The lawyer is working on getting bail,” Alejandro replied. “It’ll take some time, but we’re moving forward due to our connections.”
“I’ll wait for him then.” Zabelle didn’t hesitate.
“Zabelle…” Alejandro frowned.
“I’m not leaving until Antonio is out of here,” she cut in. “We’re going home together. Besides, I just lose my mind if I’m at home.”
Alejandro studied her for a moment before shaking his head. “You’re impossible.”
“Would you look at that, I learnt a thing or two from your brother.” She crossed her arms and rested on the car.
Alejandro couldn’t help but chuckle at her words and with that, she turned back toward the station, determined to stay until Antonio was free.
