It was a letter of self–reflection, where he poured out his regret and admitted that he had realized his feelings too late.
He explained that he had taken Kaia in because, back then, she hadn’t
intentionally abandoned him to go abroad. Instead, she had fallen ill and lost her sight.
But now, he saw how foolishly he had been deceived.
The only person he had truly wronged was
- me.
As I read his words, I felt nothing but a hollow indifference.
I didn’t know whether Kael was alive or dead, and honestly, I didn’t care.
Where Kaia had ended up wasn’t
concern anymore.
It simply didn’t matter to me.
