“Two.”
I watched in awe as Adam moved with the grace of a predator as his words left his mouth. His leg swept up in a fluid arc, connecting with Amanda’s wrist. The gun went flying, clattering across the concrete floor.
“You always did telegraph your moves,” Adam said, rising to his full height.
Rossi’s right–hand man, barreled toward my brother. But Nolan was already moving, the remnants of his zip tie falling to the ground. He stepped between them, his fist connecting with the man’s jaw in a brutal uppercut.
“Been waiting to do that.” Nolan’s knuckles were bloody, but his eyes sparkled with dark satisfaction.
The warehouse erupted into chaos. Bodies. slammed into concrete. Fists flew. Metal

Rossi’s man charged again, but Nolan met him halfway. Their bodies collided with the force of a freight train. Nolan’s fist found its mark – once, twice, three times.
“Stay down,” Nolan growled as the bigger man crumpled to the floor.
The warehouse doors burst open, more of Rossi’s men flooding in with weapons drawn. My heart hammered against my ribs as Adam moved to intercept them, his movements precise and deadly.
Nolan’s fingers worked quickly at my restraints. “Almost got it.” The zip ties snapped free. He helped me to my feet, his hands steady on my shoulders. “You okay?”
I nodded, still processing everything happening around us.
“Stay close.” His eyes searched mine before. he dove back into the fray, joining Adam against the new wave of attackers.
The first gunshot cracked through the air like thunder. I flinched as more followed,

the sound echoing off the warehouse walls. Adam and Nolan drew their weapons in one fluid motion, returning fire with practiced efficiency.
“Get down!” Adam’s voice carried over the chaos.
I ducked behind a concrete pillar, pressing my back against it as bullets whizzed past. The sound of bodies hitting the floor mixed with shouts and gunfire.
“Emma!” Nolan called out. “You good?”
“I’m okay!” My voice shook, but I held my ground.
“Keep your head down!” Adam commanded between shots. “Stay behind cover!”
“Don’t move from that spot, Emma!” Nolan shouted, ducking behind a crate to reload. “We’ve got this!”
More gunfire erupted, and I pressed myself harder against the pillar. The concrete vibrated with each impact, chips of it flying

as bullets struck nearby.
“Emma, you still good?” Adam’s voice carried over the chaos.
“Still here!” I called back, my heart racing as another spray of bullets peppered the area around me.
The sounds of gunfire died down. Bodies littered the warehouse floor–some groaning, others still. My breath came in short gasps as I surveyed the carnage from behind my pillar.
“I think that’s the last of them.” Nolan called out, kicking away a gun from one of Rossi’s fallen men.
Movement caught my eye. Amanda. She’d crawled behind some crates during the chaos. My mouth opened to shout a warning, but the words stuck in my throat as I saw the gun in her hand, aimed straight at my chest.
Her lips curved into a cruel smile. Time slowed. The warehouse air grew thick.

A dark shape hurtled across my vision. His body slammed into mine, spinning me away as the bullet found its mark. He grunted, his weight carrying us both to the ground.
“No!” Nolan’s anguished cry echoed off the
walls.
Warm liquid seeped through my shirt where Adam pressed against me. Not my
blood.
His.

“Worth it,” he managed through gritted teeth. “Always… protect my little sister.”
