Chapter 3
He saved me from the darkness of my world and showed me what it truly means to be cared for.
We studied together, went home together, and I became his one and only little follower.
I thought things would stay like this forever, but I never expected that Semond’s arrival in our second year would change everything.
She was warm, confident, beautiful, quirky, and her top grades had every guy flocking to her.
In no time, she became like a little sun— radiant and dazzling, captivating everyone around her.

And Rosent… he was the most captivated of them all. His first taste of love was
something he expressed with everything he had.
And me? From beginning to end, I was ⚫ nothing but a bystander.
Semond…
Unease spread through my heart again, like ripples across water, stealing away any trace of drowsiness.
I took a deep breath, recalling how she had left, swearing she’d never come back…
Perhaps I was just overthinking it.
I tried to comfort myself, but sleep eluded me until dawn.

For the next few days, Rosent and I found ourselves trapped in an inexplicable cycle.
I tried to get closer to him, but he grew more distant with each passing day.
- He suddenly became busy, no longer had time to pick me up after work, and didn’t
seem interested in hearing my gossip from the office.
There were even nights when he came home only as the sky began to lighten.
I wanted to ask him if something was wrong at work, but he always seemed so tired, his body and face showing signs of exhaustion. Once he hit the bed, he fell into a deep sleep.
That day, after dealing with a particularly difficult client, I felt dizzy and light–headed.

I sat at my desk, pulled out my phone, and opened Rosent’s messages, only to realize we hadn’t spoken in over a week.
“Honey, I’ve been feeling a bit off lately. I think I should see a doctor. Could you take me?”
Lately, the stress from work, combined with Rosent’s coldness, had left me mentally drained.
I was always tired, and some mornings I even felt a little nauseous upon waking.
Then it hit me–my period was late this month.
The message I sent to Rosent seemed to disappear into thin air, and unable to hold back any longer, I called a cab and headed straight for the hospital.

Just as I got out of the car, I received a call from Rosent.
“Eidora, please hurry home and make me something to eat. And don’t forget to pack ⚫ up some filet from the fridge. I’ll be home in
about an hour to pick it up…”
Rosent’s tone was brief but urgent. Before I could say anything, he hung up.
I looked at the hospital in front of me. His anxious tone made me feel rushed, so I hurried back home.
“Eidora, go to the hospital first! Don’t forget your own health just for a man!” Rodia’s voice echoed in my head, but all I could think about was how much Rosent needed me. I couldn’t disappoint him.

I quickly prepared the meal, then took the steak I had prepped earlier out of the fridge, carefully packing it into a container.
With only a few minutes left until the time he’d mentioned, I glanced at the pregnancy ⚫ test I had left on the entryway table. After a
moment’s hesitation, I went to the bathroom.
My heart raced with unease, but a flicker of joy bubbled up within me.
I thought, if I am pregnant, with Rosent’s parents‘ temperament, they would surely start planning our wedding right away.
I was thrilled at the thought of a wedding, but as for Rosent…
Before I could think much more, the test in my hand showed two lines.
