Chapter 7
“Kafir, I used to hold on to a bit of hope, but now I’ve really come to terms with reality…”
“I’ve been with him for so many years, chasing after him this whole time. I’m really exhausted… I just can’t keep doing this anymore!”
Kafir pulled me into her arms, gently running her fingers through my hair. She was crying quietly, but still tried to comfort me, saying, “It’s hard to find a three–legged frog, but a two–legged man is everywhere! Don’t cry, sis…”
I stayed with Kafir for a long time, and when I finally calmed down completely, I felt a weight lift off my chest, like I could breathe again.

But whenever I thought about those two lines on the test, my stomach would tighten and ache, and my mind would start to spiral.
When I got home, I was surprised to find
- Rosent sitting on the couch. It seemed like he was waiting for me.
As soon as he saw me, he hurriedly stood up and eagerly reached for my slippers.
“Eidora, I’m sorry. Because of Semond, I hurt you.”‘
Rosent’s gaze was sincere and filled with guilt. His eyes locked on mine as he nervously fidgeted.
I sat on the couch, quietly observing the man in front of me, and softly asked, “How long has she been back?”

Rosent seemed lost for words, unwilling to meet my eyes. He lowered his voice and said, “Ten days…”
I remembered clearly–just two weeks ago, Rosent had wanted to marry me. But then Semond came back, and everything came to a halt.
I felt the peace I had just found start to ripple again with his words.
“So, you regret it now? You don’t want to marry me anymore…” I propped my head up, a sudden realization hitting me. “Those roses were for her, weren’t they?”
At my words, Rosent fell silent.
I grabbed my phone right in front of him, unlocked it, opened Semond’s Instagram,

and scrolled through her posts…
In her post from ten days ago, there was a vibrant red rose, and in the soft lighting, two figures were wrapped in each other’s arms!
“Bang!”
I slammed my phone onto the coffee table. I hit it so hard that it bounced a few times before it fell to the floor, shattered.
“Eidora, just give me some time. We’ll get married!”
Rosent had never seen me so angry before. He stood there cautiously, like a child who had made a mistake.
After a long moment, he stepped forward and held me in his arms, softly pleading.

His long–awaited embrace was still warm, but it failed to stir any emotions within me.
I gently pushed him away, my attitude firm and resolute.
– “During these ten days she’s been back, you
held her like this too!”
“You fed her the steak I made, and put her drawings in front of me, making me face them every day, thinking of her.”
“What happened that night? She didn’t spell it out, but we’re adults, and I think I understand.”
I stared at him without blinking, and his eyes reddened. He then tried to defend himself, saying, “Eidora, you know exactly what happened between me and Semond, so why are you still bothered by it?”

“I’m grateful for all the years you’ve been with me, and I’ve thought about how things might be fine just as they are. Semond coming back, though, that was unexpected.”
“She came back from the Silver Moon pack, emotionally bruised, and I couldn’t bear to see her hurt for me again, so I thought pushing the wedding back would be better…”
“As for that night, she drank too much, and we both lost control, but I came home in the end!”
Rosent always had a childish arrogance when he made mistakes.
I guess it’s because he felt secure in my love -he never worried that I would leave him.
