Chapter 4
As I stepped out of the office, the colleagues who had always put on a friendly face now called me “Beth” with a sharp, almost mocking tone. They whispered behind my back, their fingers pointed in my direction.
Once I left the company, I locked myself away at home. I spent my days curled up in bed, barely getting up to eat or interact with anyone. Sometimes, I would lie there all day long, as if staying still was the only way I could shut out the slanders of reality and the chaos swirling in my mind.
I closed my eyes, my heavy head clouded with memories of the beautiful moments I shared with Alpha Dulcea.
Then the doorbell rang, and I could hear

footsteps drawing closer, each step more distinct. A warm, strong hand pressed gently against my burning face.
I knew it was Alpha Dulcea.
Only the two of us knew the code to my door -the code we had set together, marking the day we confirmed our relationship.
“Running a fever? Why haven’t you seen a doctor?” he asked, his voice full of concern.
He lifted my blanket and slid his arm under my legs, attempting to pick me up.
I fought against him with everything I had, but he wrapped me tightly in the blanket, lifting me effortlessly and tossing me onto the sofa.
I lay there, limp, like a lifeless doll.

After a moment, Alpha Dulcea placed fever medicine in front of me. His voice was as gentle as always.
“Here, take this and try to get up on your own,” he said.
I glared at him, seething, and the next second, I knocked the medicine over.

“If don’t trust me, then why come looking for me? Why?! I didn’t hurt her, I didn’t! If you come here again, I’ll call the cops and have you arrested…”
I knew I sounded crazy in that moment- my hair a mess, my eyes red with anger as I yanked at the blanket in my hands.
Alpha Dulcea paused, his expression growing cold. A smirk of disdain twisted his

“You really think the police will believe you? Your résumé clearly states all the lies you told back in school. Can you honestly say you were wronged? This will be your stain for

His words cut through the air with icy precision, his voice dripping with contempt.
Fury surged within me. I grabbed anything within reach and hurled it at him. But, as always, he dodged effortlessly.
Without warning, he grabbed the medicine, holding my mouth shut, and forced it down my throat.
Then, he pulled me into his arms, holding me close. His warm hand gently rubbed my head, soothing me.

It felt almost comforting…
After countless nights of sleeplessness, I was on the verge of drifting off when he spoke again.
“I’m here today to break up with you.”
“I’m marrying Dubel next month…”
Those words hit me like a punch to the gut. The acid in my stomach churned violently, and I felt bile rise in my throat.
Dizziness swept over me, and I threw up, spilling it all over myself.
And all over his expensive watch and suit.
His breathing became shallow, and I could tell he was furious.

With a violent movement, he ripped my nightgown off.
He carried me to the bathroom and drenched me with cold water, the chill biting into my ⚫ skin.
I had completely lost any sense of shame, standing there naked and motionless.
As he turned to grab a towel, I seized a half–filled basin of dirty water from a few days ago and splashed it at him.
He instinctively shut his eyes and wiped his face, grabbing the basin from my hands.
The filthy water splattered across his face, his body, and even his hair.
“Are you out of your mind?!” he shouted.

He slammed the basin onto the floor and stormed out of my apartment.
Seeing him in such a disheveled state, a bitter, twisted smile curled on my lips.
For the first time in ages, I felt an odd, unexplainable sense of satisfaction.
