Gavin dropped to his knees, the rain soaking through his clothes.
“Aria, can’t you give me one more chance?” he begged, his voice raw.
“I’ve thought so much about us these past months. I can’t forget you.”
“To me, no one compares to you. Savanna… I never loved her. She just reminded me of the younger you.”
“Younger me?” I laughed bitterly. “I’m standing right here, alive and breathing. Am I a ghost to you now?”
“Aria, please, just one more chance. After the divorce, I realized how irreplaceable you
are. I can’t live without you.”
I studied the man in front of me. In just a few months, he had become older, worn, and
unkempt.
How ironic. He looked like he cared deeply now, but his betrayal was absolute.
I turned away, unwilling to sort through his lies anymore.
It didn’t matter; I didn’t care.
Instead, I prepared for an international dance competition.
The last time Gavin called, he was drunk, his voice breaking.

I hung up.

Months later, I read in the news that Savanna had drugged Gavin during a drunken encounter and claimed to be pregnant, trying to force him into marriage.
He refused, and the scandal escalated, even landing them in court.
I shook my head at the mess, feeling only indifference.
By then, Gavin had stopped contacting me.
On the night I won my first international award, the audience erupted in applause–the loudest of the evening.
Backstage, I received a large bouquet with a card that bore only a brief congratulation and no signature.
Chasing the sender, I saw Gavin disappearing into the distance.
I opened my phone and typed a single message:
“I once thought you were my world. Now, my world is my career. All the best.”
After sending it, I blocked his number for good.
Seven years of pain–just like that, it was over.
The next seven years? They would be entirely mine.
