Chapter 10%
Bella was furious. “That Samuel is out of his mind! Does he actually want my daughter’s kidney? No way! I will never forgive him!”
“Honey, wasn’t Barnes Corporation planning to open a branch in Hathern, Zeanor? Let’s make sure Samuel’s company goes bankrupt!”
Adam nodded grimly. “Bankruptcy is too easy on them. They dared to treat my daughter like this. I’ll make sure they end up as beggars!”
Cassandra was moved by her parents‘ protective nature and her eyes welled up with tears. Adam gently wiped away her tears and said, “Why are you crying? If someone bullies you, fight back! No matter what happens, your father will always be behind you.”
Cassandra nodded firmly. “Alright! But I want to take my revenge myself. I need to end this toxic relationship with my own hands.” Although her parents wanted to help her get revenge, they ultimately respected her decision.
The next day, Cassandra went to Barnes Corporation to familiarize herself with the business. She was a housewife for over a year but was well–educated and capable. She had only stayed home for Samuel’s sake. Now, a caged bird set free ready to become a peacock.
The Barnes Corporation was currently managed by Bella’s nephew, Harry Ladner. So, Cassandra went directly to see her cousin. The employees in the president’s office were shocked to see Cassandra entering freely. They immediately assumed she was Harry’s mistress and looked at her disdainfully.
“Tsk, does she think she can seduce a man just because she has a pretty face?“\
“A kept woman daring to show up at the office so openly? Shameless.“W
“It’s 2025, and women like her still exist? She’s embarrassing our entire gender!“W
Cassandra had initially planned to ignore them, but their words grew harsher. She stopped, turned around, and warned, “If I hear any more gossip behind my back, I’ll reconsider whether you’re fit for your positions.”
If the president’s office was full of employees who only slacked off and gossiped, replacing them with fresh talent would be better. After that, she entered the office. To her surprise, Harry wasn’t there–Trevor was.
She hated the Nolans, yet she was also grateful to Trevor for saving her multiple times. “Uncle, what are you doing here?” Trevor sat on the sofa, legs crossed, exuding an air of aristocratic elegance. “What? Am I not allowed to be here?” Cassandra quickly shook her head. “Of course not. I’m just surprised. This is Yeslands, not Zeanor.”
Trevor closed his laptop, stood up, adjusted his collar, and extended his right hand. “Miss Barnes, let’s start over. I am Trevor Nolan. Your suitor.”
Cassandra’s outstretched hand froze midair. “Uncle, have you been drinking?” But he didn’t seem drunk.
Trevor gazed at her fondly, smiling. He took her hand and corrected her, “Miss Barnes, you are no longer part of the Nolans. You’ve divorced Samuel. You shouldn’t call me ‘Uncle‘ anymore. Just call me Trevor.“N
Cassandra’s head spun, struggling to process his words. At that moment, Harry entered. Dressed in a light gray suit and gold–rimmed glasses. He gave off a refined and scholarly aura. “Hello, Cassie. I’m your cousin, Harry.“”
Cassandra snapped out of her trance and quickly pulled her hand away from Trevor’s, feeling slightly nervous. “Harry, Dad and Mom asked me to familiarize myself with the company under your guidance.”
“Aunt Bella and Uncle Adam told me about it. Uncle’s health hasn’t been great these past few years, so I’ve been managing the company. It’s great that you’re back. Now everything can be returned to you. By the way, you should really thank Trevor for finding you.“%
Cassandra was puzzled. “Why?”
Harry frowned slightly and adjusted his glasses. “Don’t you know that your parents were able to find you with Trevor’s help?“%
