Chapter 15%
“Cassie, what are you talking about?” Samuel was confused.
“Harry, just wait a bit for me. I need to take care of something first, then I’ll go to the hospital with you,” Cassandra said to Harry.
Then, she turned to the man across her. “You’re the representative from Zorin Group here to discuss the collaboration today, right?”
Samuel suddenly had a bad feeling. “Cassie, how did you know that?“!
Cassandra smiled beautifully. “Let me reintroduce myself. I’m Cassandra Barnes, the new president of Hurricane Group. My company also owns this restaurant, so I am the boss here as well. Got it?”
Samuel felt like his entire worldview had just been shattered. “Cassie, stop joking. No man would ever just give away his company to a woman, especially when you two barely know each other. What reason would he have to hand it over to you? Cassie, if you hate me, you can hit or curse me out, but I’m the only one who truly cares about you. Don’t let yourself be fooled by another man.”
Harry scoffed, finding Samuel utterly ridiculous. “Cassie, your taste in men used to be terrible. How could you ever think this trash was a treasure?“}
Cassandra got mute. Yeah, her past judgment was pretty bad. She couldn’t even argue with that.”
Samuel’s face darkened. “Who the hell are you? I’m talking to my wife. This has nothing to do with you.“\
Cassandra smirked. “He’s my cousin, the former executive president of Hurricane Group. If your little company doesn’t want to go bankrupt overnight, I’d advise you not to mess with him.”@
Her revenge had not yet been completed so it couldn’t be over quickly. “Three months ago, my birth parents found me. They asked me to return home and inherit the family business. I refused, for you. But in the end, I decided to go back because of you. So, thank you. If it weren’t for you, I might’ve been stuck in your manipulative cycle forever, wasting my life as a housewife.“%
After speaking, Cassandra gave a light scoff. She pulled Harry away, officially announcing the termination of the partnership with Samuel’s company.
Samuel’s business had been struggling recently and securing a deal with Hurricane Group was his only chance to turn things around. Now, it was gone.”
He had no idea how he even got home. He only knew that Francesca was waiting for him in the living room when he arrived. She had changed into a lacy nightgown, her eyes filled with seduction as she walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his tie.
“Sam, you haven’t been home these past few days. Your parents were worried, so they asked me to check on you.” Francesca’s breath was like orchids and the warm air circled around the Samuel’s neck.”
The man pushed Francesca away with disgust and looked at her coldly. “Didn’t I tell you to leave? Why haven’t you left yet? Francesca, the reason I took care of you before was entirely because I once loved you, but the person I like is Cassie. Don’t waste your efforts on me. I’ll leave you some face, you leave on your own.“”
Samuel’s biggest regret now was that he had helped Francesca in the first place. If it weren’t for her, things between him and Cassie wouldn’t have turned out like this.
Francesca bit her lip and threw herself into his arms. “Sam, Cassandra is gone. She was never right for you. Be with me instead, I love you.“%
Samuel pushed her away with a gloomy face, his tone colder than ever. “But I don’t love you, the person I love now is Cassie. One more thing, I’m not an idiot. Do you really expect me to believe a hospital would misdiagnose something as severe as kidney failure? The only reason I never investigated was because I wanted to give you one last shred of dignity. I know Cassandra was accused of causing your miscarriage and I can understand why you’d want revenge. But luckily, she’s fine. Otherwise, I wouldn’t hesitate to take your kidney myself.“%
His gaze was so chilling that Francesca felt a panic rise in her chest. Over the past few days, Samuel carefully reviewed everything that had happened. Too many things had been far too coincidental, but because he believed that Cassandra had caused Francesca’s miscarriage. So, he never dug deeper and let it go as if they were even. “Get out. Don’t make me repeat it.”
