Chapter 19%
Cassandra had dropped a bombshell, leaving everyone in the room reeling. It took a moment for the key points to sink in: Samuel and Cassandra were married. Samuel cheated during their marriage, making him a scumbag. Samuel’s fist slackened and he muttered, “I’m sorry.”
Cassandra sneered, “Samuel, do you think an apology is enough for me to forgive you?”
Eric couldn’t contain himself any longer. He pointed at Cassandra, his voice trembling with anger. “Cassandra! You went to the West Hill church to atone because you thought you were responsible for Francesca’s child’s death! And we wanted your kidney because it was a match! It was just one kidney, not your life!”
Suddenly, a commotion erupted at the door. “Francesca killed her own child and her kidney failure was fake. She bribed the doctor.” Trevor dressed sharply in a suit, walked in, and stood beside Cassandra.
His men had brought in the housemaid who had cared for Francesca at the villa and the doctor from the hospital. The maid was thrown to the ground and she confessed the truth under pressure. “Miss Stewart’s baby died because of her own actions. Before Miss Barnes brought her chicken soup, she had already taken abortion pills.”
All eyes shifted to Francesca, who had been trying to stay unnoticed in a corner. Now, she was the center of attention. The weight of everyone’s stares was enough to drive her insane. She lost all composure, screaming like a madwoman. “Lies! Why would I kill my own child? It was Cassandra! She bribed you to frame me! Trevor must have threatened you into saying this!”
The maid, eager to clear herself of any blame, pulled out her phone. “I’m not lying! Miss Stewart told me she couldn’t buy the abortion pills herself, so she transferred me a thousand dollars and said I could keep the rest. Here’s the proof!“}
The evidence was undeniable and Francesca was cornered. Samuel felt like he had fallen into an icy abyss. His entire body trembled as he roared, “Francesca, how dare you lie to me?”
Terrified, Francesca crawled to his feet, clinging to his pant leg as she sobbed. “Sam, I only did it because I love you! I was afraid of losing you! How is that a crime? I’m the one who has loved you for years! Why should Cassandra get to marry you? I was supposed to be your wife!”
Samuel kicked her away, his eyes dark and filled with disgust. “You chose someone else! How dare you talk about love? You’re nothing but a filthy liar!”
His kick landed hard against her chest, making her cough violently.”
Meanwhile, Cassandra stood on the sidelines, watching the entire scene unfold like a spectator at a play. She even clapped. “What a beautiful case of dogs biting dogs.”
Samuel turned to Cassandra, his eyes red with regret. “Cassie, I should have believed you. I was wrong. I deserve your hatred.“%
Cassandra’s voice was cold. “Francesca is despicable, but you, Samuel, are no innocent victim either. She was the mastermind and you were her accomplice. How dare you stand here acting all self–righteous now? Where was this anger when it actually mattered?”
Belated affection was worthless and that was Samuel,”
Ariel broke down. She grabbed Francesca’s hair and slapped her repeatedly. “You bitch! You dared to kill my grandchild! I’ll beat you to death, you evil woman!”
Francesca was beaten so severely she could barely stand. With a burst of strength, she shoved Ariel away and screamed, “The child I was carrying was never even Samuel’s!“!
Eric and Ariel froze. “What did you say?”
Cassandra crossed her arms, watching them with an amused expression. “She’s telling the truth. The child in her belly belonged to her dead ex–husband, but the child I was carrying was truly part of the Nolans’s bloodline. Too bad, though. Because you forced me to donate a kidney to Francesca, I was so traumatized that I lost the baby.“W
