Chapter 210
Trevor announced to everyone that Cassandra was the only wife he would ever have in this lifetime. In his marriage, there was only “till death do us part” and never divorce. He even had it legally notarized, if he ever cheated or got divorced, he would leave with nothing.
Samuel got kicked out by the Barnes’s servants. Before he left, Cassandra told him, “Since our wedding was so low–key, our divorce should be high–profile.”

Samuel didn’t even know how he got home. It felt like he had lost all will to live. Ever since he returned, he locked himself in Cassandra’s old room. He refused to eat or drink, only holding onto the gifts he had once given her.”
When Ariel woke up, the first thing she did was search the house for anything Cassandra had left behind. When she couldn’t find anything, she even went through the garbage bins in the neighborhood. Someone took pictures of her rummaging through the trash and posted them online, turning her into a laughingstock.
Meanwhile, Samuel’s company was in free fall. Stock prices plummeted and it was on the verge of bankruptcy. The shareholders demanded a new president, but Samuel didn’t care about it. He only kept repeating, “Cassie doesn’t want me anymore.”
Francesca was arrested for attempting to steal someone else’s organ. Samuel should have been arrested, too, but since his involvement was minor and his father begged and pulled strings, he was granted bail instead.”
That day, when Eric returned home and heard Samuel was still locked in his room, he was furious. He grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stormed upstairs. The lights were off inside the room and the curtains were drawn tight. Not a single ray of light could get in.
Eric switched on the light and saw his son looking disheveled, his face gaunt and hollow. “Samuel! You’re throwing your life away over a woman? You don’t care about the company? You don’t care about your parents? How did I end up with such a pathetic son!”
Samuel let out a bitter laugh. Eric felt like he had just punched a pile of cotton. His anger only grew stronger. “Useless! If you truly loved Cassandra, why didn’t you cherish her sooner? Now you’re acting all miserable, who are you trying to impress? She won’t see it, and even if she did, she wouldn’t care!”
“Dad, I deserve this, but you and Mom aren’t innocent either. You both looked down on Cassie because she was an orphan. You made me hide our marriage. You thought she was poor and worthless, so you mocked and belittled her. She was legally adopted by the Nolans, yet she never enjoyed any of its benefits. Instead, because of her ties to us, she was bullied! So now she refuses to acknowledge me and she sure as hell doesn’t want to recognize you as her foster parents.”
“But the moment you found out she was the daughter of the richest man, with a fortune worth billions, you shamelessly ran to her. Don’t you think that’s ridiculous? Like father, like son. When the head of the family is corrupt, the children naturally follow.“&
Slap! Eric’s face was red with shame and he slapped Samuel across the face.”
Ariel rushed in when she heard the commotion. “Why are you hitting our son? He’s our only child, if anything happens to him, I’ll fight you!” When she turned to look at Samuel, he had already collapsed onto the floor, unconscious.

At the same time, Cassandra and Trevor met the elders at the Nolans’s old residence. She had been timid and cautious when she came to the residence before, but now she was the lady of the house.”
She poured tea for the elders, but whispers started murmuring behind her. “She’s got some nerve. First, she seduced her adoptive brother. Now, after the divorce, she’s clinging to another man.”
“Does Cassandra plan to haunt the Nolans forever? She just won’t go away.“”
