Inside the box were all the gifts Cassandra had received from Samuel since she became part of the Nolans. “A top–grade jade when you were 11. A Dior haute couture sapphire necklace when you were 12. A doll when you were 13.“}
Every birthday gift up until her 22nd was there. Beside the gifts was an envelope. With trembling hands, Samuel tore it open. “Samuel, these are all the things you once gave me. I treasured them like they were the most precious things in the world. But now, I’m returning everything to you, including yourself. I don’t want you anymore.“”
Samuel’s eyes were filled with disbelief. He knew exactly how much these things meant to Cassandra. When she accidentally chipped the sapphire, she had been devastated for an entire month and lost five to six pounds from the stress. How could she just throw everything away?
Now, she was gone and didn’t want these things anymore. At the bottom of the letter, Cassandra had left one last message. “Samuel, there’s a farewell gift for you in the safe.”
Samuel strode forward, wanting to open the safe but forgetting the password. He knew the password was their anniversary but couldn’t remember when it was. In the end, Samuel had a locksmith open it.
Samuel sank to the ground, looking at the three farewell gifts on the floor. The divorce papers he had personally signed, the peace lock he had given her, and a pregnancy test.
At this moment, Samuel finally couldn’t hold back his tears. “So, you really were pregnant. You were actually pregnant, but it was so difficult for you to conceive.”
Suddenly, Cassandra’s words in the hospital echoed in his ears. “I’m pregnant.”
She had managed to conceive, of all people. Yet, no one believed her. Not even her own husband.
Instead, he had forced her to kneel in the pouring rain, bowing and knocking her knee against the ground to atone for her sins. On top of that, he had wanted her kidney. Samuel clenched the pregnancy report in his fist, crumpling it as he sobbed. “Cassie, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I was so wrong.“”
He tried to contact Trevor and ask where Cassandra had gone.

Cassandra’s biological father owned an entire estate, the wealthiest man in Yeslands. Now, all of this belonged to Cassandra. She saw her parents standing at the entrance when she stepped into the estate. Her mother rushed forward, tears streaming down her face as she hugged Cassandra tightly, unwilling to let go. “Cassie, you’re finally home. You’ve suffered so much.“%
Her father smiled warmly as he placed his arms around both mother and daughter. “Welcome home, Cassie.”
So, this was what it felt like to have parents who loved her. For the first time, warmth spread through Cassandra’s heart. Now that she was back, her father officially changed her name. She was no longer Cassandra Nolan. From now on, she was Cassandra Barnes. One day, her mother took her around the estate, telling everyone she met that this was her precious daughter.
