“You deliberately did that so you could get rid of my baby, didn’t you?” Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at me with resentment.
“Lyra. please you have to listen-
“Don’t touch me! Don’t fucking touch me!” She snapped at me when I tried to touch her, so I retracted my hand.
My chest contracted so tightly that I could barely breathe.

“I was living happily on my own without you, but you chose to bring me here and torture me. Why do you keep doing this to me. Enzo! When you cheated on me with another woman. I didn’t complain. When you allowed every single member of the pack to bully me without ever standing up for me, and when you got another woman pregnant, I never complained. All I wanted was to live with my baby. Is that too hard to ask?” She yelled at me, not minding that we were in the hospital
“Lyra. I told you that there was nothing between Amber and myself. We were just acting” But I didn’t tell her those words, knowing that she would never believe me. Even I would never believe if someone ever said those words to me after everything that happened. I didn’t have any right to explain to her, but instead, make it up to her and make her forgive me for ever hurting her.
“It wasn’t intentional, I promise. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” I tried to explain to him as if he would listen to me.
“Leave. Enzo, I don’t want to see you.” She turned her face away.
“Lyra
“I told you to leave!” She snapped at me, and I knew best to leave her be for now if I didn’t want her to stress out herself about this.
I told Claudia to go stay with her, and she did while I headed to the doctor’s office to inquire about her health more and know when she would be discharged.
The doctor was busy when I walked inside his office after he ushered me in, so he asked that I sit and wait for him, which I did. It took him about five minutes before he raised his gaze to me with a smile on his face as he said. “I’m sorry for keeping you waiting. I was busy with something.”
“It’s fine. When will my wife be discharged?” 1 felt a sense of pride calling her my wife. It felt so good. So good that I never imagined it’d feel that
way.
“We just need to watch her for today, and she can be discharged tomorrow” He replied to me, and I nodded.
“For now, just get her something to eat. Preferably fruits,””
“Alright, doc. I will do that”
After leaving the doctor’s office, I drove to the fruit store where I bought as many fruits as I could, and headed back to the hospital. Lyra and Claudia were both asleep by the time I got back. Claudia woke up as soon as I walked inside, so I told her to go home while I stay with Lyra, and she left almost immediately.
My heart wrenched painfully as I sat beside Lyra and stared at her. I was here yet I felt so distant from her. The pain I’m going through now made me regret ever putting her through everything I’ve done in the past, knowing she must’ve felt worse since I did worse and unimaginable things to
her.
My thoughts were disrupted by the sound of my phone buzzing, and I took it out of my pocket. It was my secretary calling me.
“Why is he calling this late?” I mumbled, glancing at Lyra. I didn’t want to disturb her sleep, so I went outside to take the call.
“Alpha Dante’s masculine voice sounded from the other end as soon as picked the call.
“Hmm… Why are you calling this late? Is everything alright asked, a bit worried because he has never called me this late before.
“Forgive me, Alpha. I called to remind you about your appointment with Alpha Hughes of Moonstone pack tomorrow by 10am.” He reminded me
“Hmm. I still remember that though I’m not sure yet. Still, I will let you know tomorrow if I be able to meet up, and if I can’t, I will also let you know so you can go on my behalf.” I told him.
“Alright, Alpha”

After the call ended. I went back to the ward. However, my heart missed a beat when I walked in the wall as she stared into space like she was lost in thought.
She rolled her eyes and turned her face away when she looked in my direction and our eyes met. Lyra really hated me so much.
“Uhm… how are you feeling now?” I asked, going to sit on the empty chair beside the bed, but she didn’t spare me a glance as she stared away.
“Lyra.” I tried to touch her, but she threw me a glare that had me retracting my hand.
Silence assumed the atmosphere as she stared away. It hurt that she was being like this to me, but I deserved it, anyway,
“Lyra. I’m sorry about everything. I’m sorry for treating you that badly in the past, I was just mad about the betrayal” I knew none of the things I said that would make sense to her, but I needed to own up to my mistakes and make everything right.
“Please give us a chance to make this work again. I’m going to make it up to you. I promise. Please let’s be parents to our child.” I pleaded with her even though I knew that there was a slim chance of her listening to me.
Lyra didn’t move an inch nor spared me a glance. It felt as though she didn’t hear everything I said.
“Lyra.. “I touched her hand, getting her attention as she turned to look at me, her eyes filled with resentment.
“I hate you with everything in me, Enzo The only reply she gave me as she looked straight into my eyes, her eyes void of emotions. Those words struck heart and broke it into a million pieces, stomping on each broken piece. I didn’t expect it’d hurt that much, but fuck! It really did….
