Chapter 12
Garfield’s POV:
Garfield Simonds never imagined that the day of Elaine Wheeler’s birthday would be the last time he would see her.
He thought Elaine Wheeler was just throwing a tantrum.
June Tillery had a heart condition, and as her former boyfriend, he couldn’t stand by idly.
Elaine Wheeler would forgive him, no matter what.
After all, she loved him.
That’s what Garfield Simonds believed.

Besides, there was Mimi too.
As long as Mimi was around, Elaine Wheeler wouldn’t really leave.
He knew that June Tillery’s return was not just for treatment but also to rekindle their past romance.
After all, they used to be very sweet together.
However, he never planned to break up with Elaine Wheeler.
The years spent with Elaine Wheeler had made her as essential to him as food and water, a habit he couldn’t quit.
He would make things clear to June Tillery after her surgery.
Then, he would make up for neglecting Ellie

recently.
On Elaine Wheeler’s birthday, Garfield Simonds bought her a pair of earrings.
When Elaine Wheeler put them on and smiled, asking, “Do they look good?” Garfield Simonds wanted to tell her that he had originally planned to buy an engagement ring. However, the style she liked needed to be ordered, so he got the earrings instead.
But then June Tillery’s mother called suddenly.
He thought he could go quickly and come back soon.
Unexpectedly, when he reached June Tillery’s place, she suddenly felt unwell, and he had to stay with her.

Ellie somehow found out about June Tillery.
Ellie was angrier than he had imagined.
He didn’t know how to explain convincing Ellie to undergo surgery.
Initially, it was true that he saw Ellie as a substitute. Moreover, whenever she saw the pretty girls at the hospital, she was always envious.
So, he thought, why not make her more beautiful?
June Tillery’s appearance was always Garfield Simonds‘ type, so he thought to model Ellie after June.
Ellie cried her heart out, and he didn’t dare face her tears; he also feared Ellie would never forgive him.

He felt a chilling cold sweep over his entire body as his heart nearly stopped.
Only two days ago, he had arranged for June Tillery’s heart transplant ahead of the queue with the help of his former teacher.
It turned out, it was Ellie’s heart.
While he had been rejoicing over June Tillery’s successful surgery, Ellie had been lying in the morgue of the same hospital.
Ida took away Ellie’s belongings and Mimi.
Garfield Simonds didn’t stop her.
He knew he didn’t deserve to.
He didn’t deserve to keep Ellie’s things, nor did he deserve to keep Mimi.

Garfield Simonds replayed the details of Elaine Wheeler’s death over and over.
It was like self–torture, endlessly ruminating.
What had he really done to Elaine Wheeler?
Garfield Simonds began using alcohol to numb himself.
Only when he was drunk could he see Ellie in his dreams.
He could no longer hold a scalpel, not just because the alcohol had damaged his nerves, making his hands unsteady.
But also because every time he faced the face on the operating table, he always saw Ellie accusing him: “Give me back my face, give me back my heart.”

Finally, he couldn’t stand the voices in his head any longer and stormed into June Tillery’s house, determined to get Ellie’s heart back.
“If I get her heart back, Ellie will forgive me, right?” He took a knife and stabbed June Tillery’s heart.
A new prisoner arrived in the jail.
Charged with intentional harm, sentenced to life.
He looked clean and gentle, not like a violent person.
The prison boss noticed the newcomer and signaled. Two henchmen shoved Garfield

A photo fell from his pocket.
Garfield Simonds reached to pick it up, but the boss stepped on it.
“What’s the rush? Your sweetheart?”
Garfield Simonds struggled like mad, angering the boss.
“Teach him a lesson. Does he still think he’s somebody important in here?” the boss sneered.
Fists rained down, and Garfield Simonds slowly closed his eyes.
As his consciousness faded.
Garfield Simonds thought, Ellie, I can finally

The End
Book 5 I Discovered My Husband’s Stepmother Was His Lover
My husband suggested a trip to a remote, uninhabited region, claiming the scenery there was breathtaking.
I rubbed my seven–month pregnant belly, drenched in cold sweat.
Just the night before, I overheard him on the phone with his mistress.
“Baby, don’t worry. Once we lure her into the wilderness, she’s as good as gone. After that, all her assets will be ours.”
Fear gripped me, and I texted my stepmother

What I didn’t know was that the mistress’s identity would shock everyone.
