Falling For My 38

Falling For My 38

Chapter 38

The officer seated at the desk, organizing documents in his hands, exhibited a trace of weariness. Without even raising his eyes, he said, his tone carrying a hint of indifference, A moment, please

Before I could finish speaking, I was interrupted. Not paying particular attention at first, I then noticed someone sitting on a bench not far behind. who spoke leisurely, Can I take him back now?”

My heart suddenly skipped a beat

The deep, resonant voice of the man behind me froze me in place momentarily, rendering me unable to move

Years had passed, yet I still couldn’t forget that voiceperhaps I never would

I took a deep breath, gripping my slightly trembling hands tightly and thinking there was nothing to be nervous about. Perhaps that person had already forgotten all about me after so many years

Mr. Parks, please sign here, and you can take him away. It’s really not a big deal; you could’ve just made a phone call. The officer managed to squeeze a smile on his weary face, glancing sideways as he walked over to the man behind me with the documents and a pen

The man picked up the pen casually and signed his name

As he stood up, the officer walked over to my side and frowned at me with a voice devoid of his earlier gentleness. Are you Javier Peters sister

I paused for a moment. Noticing his gaze seemed to fall on me, I nodded hurriedly

Wait here. I’ll bring him over.” His voice was devoid of emotion

Alright, thanks,I responded softly, thinking it wasn’t a severe issue, but still puzzled why, having been the one beaten, was Javier being detained

At this moment, footsteps echoed from outside, followed by a woman’s cooing, soft voice. Isaac, is Dexter not out yet?”

Taking a deep breath, I looked at the woman who entered. Dressed in a Chanel pink suit that accentuated her flawless skin, she threw herself into his arms weakly upon seeing the man

He glanced at her, his stern face betrayed a hint of annoyance. Kailyn, you’ve only just come to Nifelheim and are already causing this for me

Isaac, since you’re in Nifelheim today, why not go to Alex’s birthday party with me tomorrow? There might be some unexpected surprises, the woman named Kailyn suggested

Kailyn, why make things difficult for him?Isaac paused for a second before replying

I don’t care. I like Alex, and Grandpa has already approved of it,” the woman shot back

Listening to the two’s conversation, I couldn’t remain calm any longer. Turning to leave, I felt as though I’d been drained, barely able to lift my feet, and my head buzzing dizzily

If I heard right, they were supposed to hit up Alex’s bday party tomorrow

In my six years with Austin, I never heard him mention any ties with the Parks family in Wadiff City

Six years later, that handsome mug didn’t change muchslightly furrowed thick brows, deep gaze. Pretty similar to the dude in that pic.

I never planned on finding the guy in the pic, yet here we are, with God pulling a mean prank on me

Right then, Javier walked out of the interrogation room on the first floor

Spotting me, he froze for a second. Just as he was about to call out to me, I immediately stepped forward. Seeing his bruised face, I blurted, Got roughed up?”

A cop nearby frowned and corrected me, No rough stuff. He got a bump when someone pulled him while drunk.”

Meanwhile, a teenage boy descended from the second floor, a smirk on his lips, throwing a loaded glance at Javier

I was boiling insidehow could those injuries just be from a bump? What exactly was going on?I took a deep breath, fixing a heavy stare on Javier

He shot me an indifferent glance, a mix of restraint and defiance in his eyes, chill as ice. Laurel, let’s jet.”

I nodded quietly, pulling out a pen to sign him out when that brat Dexter shot Javier another taunting glance. Don’t bump into the wrong people in the future, got it?”

Then I clocked the scratch marks on Javier’s arm, and a fire of rage lit up inside me

Memories of that pitiful boy by my uncle’s coffin came flooding back. Fighting back the sorrow and anger, I slowly looked up at Javier. From a bump? Who did it?”

Hearing me, the officer there paused, scoffing, A grown man making a fuss over trivial matters with a young girl, and he’s supposed to be a college student? How was he raised by his parents?”

Upon hearing those words, I couldn’t contain my anger anymore. I slammed my bag heavily onto the table in front of me and demanded, Who exactly did it?”

I let out a sneer, and my fiery gaze locked onto the officer standing before me

Ever since I walked into the station, the officer had been unusually cold and even a bit impatient

It seemed that, in his eyes, people could be categorized into various classes and ranks

Even though my voice wasn’t loud, with nobody else around the station, all eyes turned to me at that moment.

Then, a middleaged man in his thirties came out from the office next door, about to explain when the woman’s voice came from behind him just a second later

I did it,said Kailyn, a bright smile on her face but with disdain in her eyes. We booked that room. He and his friends took our spot. So I told them to leave. But they refused and even dirtied my bag.”

Pausing slightly, she went on, That bag was worth over 60 thousand dollars, and I’m not even charging him for it. What, you’re his sister? Are you paying for it? Can you even afford it?”

She was such a pretty and sweet girl, yet her words were so harsh

My chest felt heavy. Gritting my teeth, I turned to Javier. Speak up. What exactly happened?”

A flicker of hesitation appeared in Javier’s eyes, but finally explained after I yelled, Laurel, the waiter led us to the private room. We’d been there for half an hour, and they just wanted to kick us out as soon as they came.”

But weren’t you supposed to be good at brawling? How come you got beat up this time?I pursued

The cop handling the case jumped in, scolding me, Are you his family? That’s no way to educate! No wonder he’s making a fuss over such a trivial thing with that young girl.”

So, you didn’t dare to hit back because they’re rich, huh? But when you hit a barking dog, you don’t need to check if its master is rich, right?I looked at Javier, all composed
