Chapter 12
His eyes reddened as he poured all his emotions onto Old Mr. Carter, not realizing that Benjamin, who had been holding him just moments ago, had let go of his grip and run off, fear in his eyes.
Benjamin had never seen his father like this.
In front of him, Alexander was always the calm, collected CEO, the sharp suited business elite, the loving father who hid his affection. The man before him now, with bloodshot eyes and uncontrollable emotions, was someone entirely different someone who would even vent his frustration on his grandfather.
He turned and quietly ran outside the villa.
He couldn’t just sit here and wait for disaster to strike. He needed to find his mother. He didn’t want this father anymore!
Alexander, lost in his own turmoil, didn’t notice anything at all.
Indeed, Old Mr. Carter had forced his beloved one away. But now, Alexander had driven his own lover away. There was no longer any room for his grandfather to intervene, and naturally, he would no longer cover for him.
“Hmph, this time, she left on her own accord. Or rather, Alexander, you just don’t know how to love or respect others, so you forced her to leave.”
Old Mr. Carter snorted coldly, tearing away any shred of dignity left for him.
“You really thought Isabella stayed by your side all these years because she loved you?”
Alexander froze. He instinctively asked, “What do you mean?”
But somewhere deep inside, he knew better.
Don’t listen, Alexander, you won’t be able to accept this answer.
He quickly reached for the hang–up button, but Old Mr. Carter, as if predicting his intentions, laid out the whole truth.
“Isabella never loved you. She was sent by me to be with you, to act like she loved you, to give you a child, and to make you forget Olivia. I heard Olivia got hurt today. Did you even go to see her?”
Old Mr. Carter chuckled mockingly, not giving him a chance to respond. He continued.
“Looks like that child did her job well. She even told me before she left to allow you and Olivia to be

After all, he was his grandson, sumeme Oid Mr. Carter had once had high hopes for. But now, revealing all of this wasn’t to push him into repeating the same mistakes he made six years ago, to live and die for a wan. Rather, he wanted to wake him up completely, to make him realize that emotions were just external matters–things that could be true or false, but shouldn’t be held onto too rigidly.
d Mr. Carter spoke again, he had returned to its usual serious and heartfelt nature, but if one listened carefully, there was still a hint of deep concern.
“Alexander, it’s not that I want to hit you while you’re down, but you’ve always acted impulsively. A person should cherish what’s in front of them, whether it’s people or other things. No one will ever stay where they are waiting for you
I kept this from you before because I feared you wouldn’t be able to handle it. But honestly, if Olivia had been firm in her heart, and didn’t panic when I told her that if she insisted on being with you, she would have to give up everything the Carter family offered her, she could have stayed. I could have arranged a proper identity for her to marry into the Carter family. But you, failing to recognize her worth, were ready to give up the Carter family inheritance for a woman like that.”
“And as for Isabella, if you had given her even a fraction of true affection over these six years, I don’t believe she would have been so heartless to abandon the child she carried for ten months. The truth is, you wronged her. If I were you, the last thing I would be doing right now is wallowing in self–pity. Instead, I’d go find her, explain things, and try to win her back!”
